Curbside Pickup of Student Materials: Details and Schedule

Dear Families,

Our Lees Corner staff has been working hard to pack-up classrooms and collect students' materials and we are ready for tomorrow's curbside pickup!

Please understand that during the collection and preparation process, some unmarked items may not have been able to be identified as belonging to a particular student.

We will be hosting the contactless vehicle drive-thru pick up of these items by grade level.

Grades K-5 families are scheduled for pickup tomorrow, Friday, June 5th.

Grade 6 families are scheduled to pick up items on Friday, June 12.

If you have multiple children at Lees Corner, you will only need to go through the drive-through once. Choose one of your child’s assigned grade level times, and you will be able to retrieve and/or drop off items for all your children at that time.

We are asking that you drop off textbooks, library books, patrol belts, reading bags for grades 1-3, and book club novels for grades 5 and 6 during this curbside pick up. Please bring these items with you and be prepared to drop them off while observing safe social distancing and contactless collection guidelines.

Classroom teachers may also send you a more specific list of items to be returned to school. Assigned devices should be returned ONLY for students moving to a new school. We are waiting on more details for 6th graders.

Families will also be able to pick up medication left in the clinic. Medication and instrument pickup will take place in the bus loop/parking lot directly in front of the school.

If your child is currently a 6th grade band or strings student and you have, or are renting, a school or FCPS owned instrument OR you are moving, you will need to return the instrument to school during the time below, or by June 12th. Regardless of next year’s instrument choice, 4th and 5th graders are permitted to keep their current school rentals through the summer and do not need to return them until next school year. Please see the schedule below and the map above:

Contactless Collection Reminders

We are so very excited to see our students and families tomorrow. We've missed everyone so much! While we will be excited to see you, please remember (and remind the kids too!) that we still need to follow safe social distancing guidelines to keep ourselves and our community safe & healthy.

Here are a few helpful reminders:

  1. We will be wearing our personal protective equipment and we ask that you wear yours as well. This includes face masks and gloves.
  2. Help us maintain safe social distance by waving, sharing air hugs, air fist bumps, air high fives, etc. We want to hug you, but we can't right now!
  3. Please be prepared for contactless pick up and return of student materials. What does this mean for you?
    • It will be most helpful to us if we can put your child's or childrens' bag(s) of materials in your car without you coming out of your car. We can put items in the trunk or back seat of your car. Please make sure there is room in your trunk or backseat for the materials.
    • We will have plastic tubs we will use to collect or distribute smaller items. If you've been to a Chick-fil-A drivethru, you know what that will look like.
  4. If you have many bulky items to return, such as library books, or multiple patrol belts, please return them in a bag or box with handles to make them easier for us to retrieve safely.
  5. If you need to hand something off to us such as a bag, please wear gloves.
  6. Be prepared to wave, smile, sing and shout to share your love and good wishes!

Yearbook Update

The GREAT news is that we will have a wonderful yearbook that truly captures what learning and growing in the 2019-2020 school year was like at Lees Corner and during Distance Learning!

We had hoped the yearbooks would be ready for distribution during curbside pickup, but the printing and delivery has been delayed due to COVID-19. We will share more information with you when we have it.

Now we have ANOTHER great thing to look forward to!
