Dear Mason District Class of 2020,
I can only imagine how disappointed you've been with the way the current health crisis has impacted your last few months of high school.
You have been asked to sacrifice a lot this year and you have done so with grace. You have shown resiliency, adaptability, hope, and strength. That will forever be your legacy as the Class of 2020. I am very proud of the way you have persevered and come together as a community.
I wish you safe passage to the next phase of your journey. May this be the beginning of only great things for each and every one of you.
Congratulations and best wishes for continued success and health,

Earlier this week, Governor Northam directed that Northern Virginia will be entering Phase 2 of reopening today, June 12, 2020. In response, the Fairfax County Park Authority has announced additional facility openings and FCPS has announced the opening of athletic fields, basketball courts, and playgrounds in accordance with Phase 2 guidelines.
In addition, Governor Northam presented initial guidelines for reopening schools. FCPS has created a Return to School webpage that is updated as new information becomes available.
Please see below for information about upcoming work sessions and also ways to participate in the Return to School process for the 2020-21 school year.
School Board Work Sessions
The Superintendent and his staff will be presenting details for Return to School plans to the School Board at our work session on June 15. We will continue the conversation, after receiving public input, in a second work session on June 23.
June 15, 2020 1:30 - 4:30 p.m.
June 23, 2020 1:30 - 4:30 p.m.
School Board Meetings and Work Sessions are broadcast on Channel 99 (Cox and Comcast), Channel 11 (Verizon) and live streamed online here. The sessions will also be posted on YouTube for later viewing.
Parent and Employee Survey
A survey is being sent next week to all FCPS families and staff regarding the various Return to School options and we encourage you to provide the Superintendent and his staff with your feedback to help develop the very best plan we can possibly offer to our students and families for 2020-21.
Public Hearing
Next Thursday, the School Board has scheduled a virtual public hearing to hear citizen comments on the Return to School. The Public Hearing is scheduled for 6:30 pm. on Thursday, June 18, 2020. Speaker registration is open and citizens are encouraged to register to speak at this link:
