Dear GBE Families,
Our first Curbside Pickup for Preschool through 2nd Grade was a success last Friday! We were able to deliver student belongings for many students in Preschool, Kindergarten, 1st Grade, and 2nd Grade through the rain! Thank you for your cooperation.
We will continue our Curbside Pickup with 3rd Grade, 4th Grade, and 5th Grade this Friday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Families received an E-Notify message last Friday to sign up for a time to pick up student belongings. Please post on the passenger’s side window a piece of paper with your student name(s) and homeroom teacher's name(s). If you still need to submit the Google Form, please use this link. I will include the Google Form link for the 6th Grade Curbside Pickup in next week’s News You Choose message. 6th grade will have a separate curbside pickup on June 12th. Please email Ms. Williams at hwilliams@fcps.edu if you have any additional questions about picking up student belongings.
Mrs. Lorenzi emailed 6th Grade families on Friday afternoon to share our plans to celebrate our students on June 12th! Families, please reach out if you have any questions. We hope to have a great Sixth Grade Send-Off on June 12th!

1. Tell us a little bit about what brought you to GBE.
I was working at Dogwood Elementary school and our Registrar had left to go to Greenbriar East as Registrar. After about 3 months, my friend took another job and the position was opened. I applied for the job and have been at Greenbriar East going on 16 years this upcoming school year. I live about 10 minutes away on a day with little traffic. I have worked at Hunters Woods, Dogwood, McNair and remained here at GBE.
2. How did your career path lead to working in schools?
I have worked many jobs through my lifetime from working in a credit department in a bank, a bank teller, Assistant Manager of a clothing store, Legal Secretary, Administrative Assistant and taking on various cashier jobs in my youth. I attended a business school and have taken many college classes. I ended up working for the school system once I had my 2 daughters and wanted to be home when they returned from school. I have worked for FCPS going on 19 years.
3. What is something that we might not know about you?
I come from a musical family. My father was a Jazz pianist and my mother was an Opera Singer. I love speed boats, painting, playing the piano, biking, hiking and I enjoy the company of my dog, Otis. I am a "Nana" to my new granddaughter, Esther. One day I would like to travel to Ireland and see the beautiful countryside and take my granddaughter to Disney World.
4. What was your favorite thing about school growing up?
I loved going to the planetarium, any field trip, Art class and Music class. I enjoyed cultivating friendships and learning in general. One day I will finish my degree in General Studies. I also loved Science and doing experiments.

Social Media Post of the Week
Hey GBE Roadrunners!
Mrs. V, Ms. Wagar and I want to thank you all for such a great school year. Even though we haven’t been together for a few months, it has been wonderful seeing your pictures and videos of you being active with your families. We hope that you take this extended time at home to practice your skills, work on your fitness testing and have fun being active.
While we have been out of school, your PE teachers have been working incredibly hard to create fun and creative content for you to do with your family at home. We have a great DROP EVERYTHING AND MOVE calendar on the GBE Student Site that gives you an activity a day as well as mini lessons on bones, muscles, and nutrition! Did you know that you can do any of these activities at any time? It’s super important that you stay active while at home, not only to keep your body strong, but to also keep your mind strong and healthy.
This week on Two on Tuesday we used our Monster Movement Alphabet to spell CALF and do some exercise! We also went on a Nature Bracelet walk with Ms. Miller and her daughter! Check out the videos if you missed them!
If you haven’t had a chance to check out all the fun stuff we’ve been doing, take a minute and head over to the website, check out the Greenbriar East Facebook page, follow us on Twitter @pe_gbe or Instagram @GBE_PE, or you can see all the videos on my YouTube channel! I’ve been doing my best to connect with you through these platforms and keep you moving!
