mars rover

We had a special guest speaker in Ms. Bradford's office hours this week. Dr. Siebach, a former Kilmer MS student, now a Mars geologist, spoke with students about the Mars exploration rover, Curiosity, which landed on Mars in 2012. Thank you!

May 29, 2020

Dear Kilmer Families,

Thank you to all our families who have come by Kilmer MS to pick up locker items over the past two weeks. We will be scheduling a couple more make-up times over the next couple of weeks to ensure everyone has an opportunity to pick-up their belongings. In addition, we will have a lost and found curbside pick-up on Tuesday, June 16. We will send details as the date approaches.

As we approach the final weeks of school, I want to thank our community for their continued partnership and support of the continuity of learning within the Distance Learning environment. As a result, Kilmer has experienced high levels of attendance and engagement in Distance Learning. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Amy Miller

Principal

Announcements

NJHS Important Information

Kilmer’s NJHS continues to persevere, despite the mandated social distancing which left many candidates unable to complete service learning hours with their Community Partners.

Candidates who complete all NJHS Google Classroom assignments (by the due date for each) for the Five Stages of Service Learning, and continue to uphold the five pillars of NJHS:  Citizenship, Scholarship, Character, Leadership, and Service, will be considered for membership in Kilmer’s NJHS. Additional guidance is provided on the NJHS page of the Kilmer MS website.

Student initiative and structured time for reflection on the service experience are key elements to completion. Candidates will finish the year by demonstrating their acquired skills and knowledge in an on-line Service Learning Gallery and Virtual Induction into the National Junior Honor Society, date to be announced.

Completing the Kilmer NJHS Service Learning Continuum is a tremendous accomplishment for our candidates. Thank you to our candidates and teacher mentors for their unstoppable dedication to serving others.

8th Grade Team Recognition: June 10, 2020 12:15-1:00

Although we find ourselves in a new Distance Learning environment, we want to recognize and acknowledge the great successes of our Kilmer 8th grade students and provide closure for our students . On Wednesday June 10th 12:15-1:00 (PAWS), each 8th grade team will host a virtual recognition ceremony.  All students will access the ceremony via Blackboard Collaborate Ultra and will receive the link information as the date approaches. We encourage all students to attend their team’s ceremony.

Families of award winners will be notified via e-mail the week of June 1st.  Although not every student will receive a recognition, we know the primary focus of the ceremony will be to provide closure for our students and an opportunity for our staff to impart some final remarks on the year.

Any questions please contact Chris Musgnug at ccmusgnug@fcps.edu.
