Senior Survey

All Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) 12th grade students are asked to complete a brief senior survey at the end of their 12th grade year. Postsecondary plan information gathered in the Senior Survey provides valuable information for our school division as we work to support each student’s academic and career plan, and information from the survey is also annually reported to the Virginia Department of Education.

Parents, please help us collect this information. If your student has not completed the survey you will receive an email from Ms. Cottingham on Monday as a reminder. Thank you for your help in completing this task.

Governor's Task Force

Following the directive to close all schools in Virginia due to the pandemic, the Virginia Department of Education established the Continuity for Learning (C4L) Task Force to develop recommendations on key issues schools must address before reopening and help determine how to ensure continuity of learning for Virginia students from cradle to classroom to career. After this guidance is developed, the work group will transition to focus on long-term recovery plans to include addressing learning gaps and social emotional needs of students resulting from school closures.

Temporary Food Assistance for FCPS Families in Need

Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) families whose children are eligible for the federal free and reduced-price meal program can receive temporary food assistance from the Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS). Families will receive a P-EBT (Pandemic Electronic Bank Transfer) for temporary food assistance to cover the cost of meals missed while schools are closed.

FCPS has submitted the names of families currently eligible for FRM to the VDSS; currently eligible families do not need to apply or fill out additional forms to receive the funds. Families are not required to be current SNAP recipients to qualify for P-EBT benefits.

Families that are not currently eligible for free and reduced-price meals can apply to that program by June 11. VDOE and VDSS ultimately approve eligibility and issue the benefit.

VDSS is working with the Virginia Department of Education to ensure that families currently receiving SNAP benefits will have funds loaded onto their EBT cards within the next two weeks. Families who do not receive SNAP benefits will receive an EBT card in the mail in the next 4-6 weeks.

Families are encouraged to visit the Virginia P-EBT site (VDSS P-EBT FAQs (English) – VA P-EBT (English), VDSS P-EBT FAQs (Español) - VA P-EBT (Spanish)) to learn more. FCPS families can also contact the Office of Food and Nutrition Services at 703-813-4800.
