Dear Families,
We are approaching the final week of school and we look forward to spending these last several days with your children! We are making the most of our time together by celebrating the moments that remain, as well as ensuring our students and families are informed about the learning that our county will be supporting this summer.
As previously shared by the county, there will be access to a variety of instructional experiences across all school levels. This Continuity of Learning (COL) will take place between June 29th-July 31st.
-
Elementary and Middle School: Each student will receive mathematics and language arts centrally created workbooks for the summer. Our Instructional Services Department (ISD) is also identifying a variety of digital resources and activities. Each school is hiring one teacher at each grade level to hold an hour of virtual office hours per week to address student questions.
We know that you may have already planned a busy summer for your families, and that it is your decision whether you encourage your children to partake in these experiences. We also understand that children may need a break from online instruction, and that frankly, you may, too. Just know that no matter what you decide, we will support you. We are prepared to return in the fall, to whatever model of instruction is decided upon, with renewed energy, enthusiasm, and determination to make it a great year!
To this end, please view these Continuity of Learning resources as a meaningful opportunity for ongoing support that will bridge this year with next. We would like to thank you for considering all the ways you can support learning this summer by sharing your time, travels, and thinking with your children.
Louise Archer Staff Updates
It is time to say goodbye to some very special staff members here at Louise Archer. The following teachers will be retiring this year:
Lynn Kinni - first grade teacher
JoAnn Smith - third grade teacher
Sue Rutherford - fifth grade teacher
Bonnie Alexander - ESOL teacher
We wish them much success as they enter this new chapter of their lives!
We also have several teachers who will not be returning next year:
Meredith Everett (5th grade teacher) - taking a year's leave to be with her family
Jill Schwartz (SPED teacher) - will be transferring to another school
Alison Long (PT art teacher) - will be teaching full time at another school
Joan Bohlen (Library assistant) - will be transferring to another school
We are sad to see them go and appreciate all they did to support our students and community at Louise Archer!
We are pleased to share that we have already hired our incoming teachers for the upcoming school year and look forward to introducing them to you in the fall.

New Online Learning Platforms Available In the Summer
Lexia and Imagine Math
As a reminder, all students in grades K-5 can now access Lexia Core5, an online independent reading program at home. Please have your child login and complete the quick placement assessment. Then, students are encouraged to access it anywhere from 20-80 minutes weekly.
