THE MUSTANG WEEKLY

MAY 18th, 2020

During the FCPS closure, most of our communications will continue to be sent to our community via the eNotify system. However, we want to also send out our Mustang Weekly with information specific to the SCMS community.

Dear South County Middle School Community,

Our marvelous mustangs are clicking on all cylinders during distance learning and I couldn’t be happier! Our teachers are providing engaging synchronous sessions, meaningful asynchronous activities and keeping the connection with students alive during office hours. The students have done a phenomenal job adapting to the change in learning structure and exhibit appropriate digital citizenship when participating in distance learning. I am thrilled to report that 24 students on average log into each synchronous session!

Please assist our teachers and remind your students that their personal progress toward content mastery will best be measured by submitting the asynchronous work. By now, you have hopefully logged onto your students SIS account and seen the work that they have submitted in the 4th quarter. Teachers are noting the work that is submitted and if the work is at a proficient level. Our distance learning goal has always been to maintain a continuity of learning, and even though the 4th quarter is ungraded, the teachers are still providing feedback to the students on the ways that they can improve!

Have a great week of distance learning and, as always, please let me know if you have any questions.
