Teacher Appreciation Week at Waples Mill!

Good Morning Waples Mill Families,

It's Teacher Appreciation Week!  We hope you will join us in celebrating our wonderful teachers and staff this week.  Please see below for a description of the activities we have planned to help our staff feel extra special!

Teacher Appreciation Week is May 4-8!

Each May we celebrate our teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week, which is May 4th through May 8th this year. The Waples Mill staff have continued to work hard to connect with families and support students during distance learning. Please help us celebrate our wonderful Waples Mill Elementary staff this week!

MONDAY, May 4th: Students write an email note to say thank you to your teachers or send an e-card! Parents, you can write a note to say thanks as well if you would like. Free teacher appreciation cards can be found online at Hallmark and Greetings Island.

TUESDAY, May 5th: Wear your Waples Mill spirit wear or black and gold colors during your live sessions with your teachers to show your teachers how much you care.

In addition, if you so choose, take a photo of yourself or of a picture you have made to thank all of our wonderful teachers and staff at Waples Mill. Your photos will be compiled into a slideshow that will be presented to staff later in the week. Some possible ideas: take a photo of your smiling self, take a photo of yourself holding a sign that says “Thank you!”, “Thank you teachers and staff!” or “Thank you Waples Mill staff!”, or take a photo of a drawing/sign you have made to say thank you. Please email your photos to Joan Olinger at jcolinger@fcps.edu no later than Wednesday, May 6th.

WEDNESDAY, May 6th: Create a video message and email it to your teacher.  Here are some ideas of what you might say:

I love being in your class because…

My favorite memory this year was…

You taught me. . .

You always say. . .

Thank you for. . .

THURSDAY, May 7th: Let’s give our teachers a virtual bouquet of flowers! Take a photo of a pretty flower or take a photo of a drawing you have made of a flower and email your photos to your teachers.  This virtual bouquet is sure to make their day!
