Thank you, thank you to the Kilmer PTA for the treats they provided to the teachers and staff during Teacher Appreciation Week. It was much appreciated.

From the Principal's Desk:

May 8, 2020

Dear Kilmer Families,

We have completed our second full week of synchronous classes. It’s been exciting to join classes and see our students connecting with their teachers and accessing instruction virtually.  We know that these are very uncertain times and there are many challenges outside of school.  We truly appreciate your continued flexibility and partnership. We are pleased that we have completed two weeks of both asynchronous and synchronous learning and are looking forward to continued progress.

Thank you to the Kilmer PTA and the entire community for recognizing our staff this past week for Staff Appreciation Week! We are all very appreciative of your support especially during this very challenging time.

We are looking forward to hosting a Virtual Parent Coffee on May 15 and May 18. Please see below for details.

Sincerely,

Amy Miller

Principal

Announcements

Parent Coffee

parent coffee

We will be offering a virtual Parent Coffee on Friday, May 15 at 11:30 AM and Monday, May 18 at 3:00 PM. During this time, our school counselors will share helpful tips on organization and study skill strategies in the Distance Learning Environment. We will also hear from our Librarians, PE Teachers, and our After-School Specialist to learn about additional Distance Learning opportunities.

We will send the Blackboard Collaborate Ultra Link via e-notify next week. Please note each session has a maximum of 250 participants. Both Coffees will cover the same information. Please plan to participate in only one session. We will also record the sessions and post them on the Kilmer website.

New Yearbook Spread

During this unprecedented time, Kilmer’s yearbook staff wants to document what the Kilmer community has been doing to stay positive during school closing. We will be creating a spread that includes photos and stories of what students, parents, and staff have been doing during their quarantine to stay busy, connect with others, and stay active. Please send pictures and stories to pmprevost@fcps.edu of you connecting through social media (tiktok, facetime, etc.), creating art projects, baking/cooking at home, spending time with family, taking walks, virtual learning, playing games, etc. Please write a caption of who is in the picture and what you are doing. Thank you!

Office Hours

Office Hours is a time for students to connect with their teacher to ask questions, check-in on assignments, engage in one-on-one or small group discussion. We encourage students to check-in with their teachers (core and elective) during office hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays. All teachers’ office hour times can be found on the Kilmer Distance Learning Hub.

Third Quarter Report Cards

Third Quarter report cards will be mailed home in mid-May, except for those parents and/or guardians who have opted to “Go Paperless.” Parents and/or guardians can take advantage of the paperless option, by logging into ParentVUE, then going to “My Account” and selecting "Go Paperless!" All parents who share the same address as the student must have a SIS ParentVUE account and must select the paperless option. This option must be selected prior to May 12 to prevent the 3rd quarter report card from being mailed.
