PRINCIPAL DAUGHERTY

Dear Beech Tree Parents,

Last Sunday, I held my breath as we all crossed our fingers that on Monday, students and teachers would be able to connect and connect, they did! This week, is Teacher Appreciation Week. At Beech Tree, we identify every staff member as a teacher, so we always celebrate all staff the whole week.

I found a poem that made me think of our staff and all they hope and wish for each of our Beech Tree Beavers:

“A Teacher’s Wish” by Genie Graveline

May the children in my care learn so much more from me than what is contained in books.

May I teach them by example that it’s all right to make mistakes, for that is how we learn and how we grow.

May these precious children, who have been entrusted to me, learn how to find the good in all people, as I, too, shall find the good in each and every one of them.

May they learn from their experiences that they can succeed, and may their triumphs fill them with confidence and enthusiasm.

May they grow to be dreamers, and come to believe that their dreams really can come true.

May this year that we spend together, be filled with warmth and laughter, and may all of the memories, which they will take with them when they go, continue to nurture and inspire them, as they move forward one step at a time, on their wondrous journey through life!

While our connections may be outside of the school building and mostly virtually, our hopes for our Beavers remain. Our dedicated PTA Board came up with ideas that would be fun for students to thank their teachers and staff, while also keeping it easy enough to do while parents are in the midst of sharing their family space with their work responsibilities. Here are the messages from our PTA Board:

Teacher Appreciation Week

May 4-8

Let's show our teachers and staff we love them! Here are some ideas to show your Beech Tree Spirit!

  • Draw a picture or take a picture of flowers and email it to your teacher.
  • Make a video with an encouraging message and post to twitter or email.
  • Thursday- May 7, Wear something to make your teacher smile during your live class. Decorate a wacky hat, arrange a crazy hairstyle, or wear mismatched clothes!
  • The PTA is also holding a raffle for the staff with a gift card to local restaurants each day to show our appreciation!
