Teacher Appreciation Week

Next week is PTA’s annual Staff/Teacher Appreciation Week!  Over the last month, it has been even more evident how much our teachers are missed, and what an amazing job they do in teaching our children.  Join us in showing your teachers and the Shrevewood staff support and gratitude by participating in our virtual Staff Appreciation Week!  We encourage you to email your teachers directly throughout the week with photos or videos, and/or ShrevewoodSAW@gmail.com.  We will work to post a few photos each day to PTA Twitter & Facebook accounts.  Theme ideas for each day are shown below-these are just suggestions! Feel free to think outside the box and think BIG. Can you and your neighbors coordinate some large scale displays while maintaining social distancing? Get creative!  (Use this link to access the Specialist teacher's email address: https://sites.google.com/view/specialists-team-site/home.)

Additionally, the PTA will provide small gifts to all Shrevewood staff as a sign of our appreciation.  Some families have expressed interest in donating to this effort.  If you are interested, please send a donation to our PayPal account (ShrevewoodPTATreas@gmail.com) no later than May 4th.  Thank you.

Monday: April Showers bring May Flowers- Send a picture of a flower you drew, picked or found to your teacher!
Tuesday: Send a note or video to your teacher about a favorite classroom memory.
Wednesday: Send a note of thanks or a special talent via video to at least two specialists (PE, Chinese, Music, Art, Guidance, Library)
Thursday: Find an inspirational or fun quote to share with your teacher. Friday: Rainbow Connection- Draw or paint a rainbow picture to share with your teacher!

Stay safe and be well!

Positivity Project- Leadership

p2

So, why does leadership matter?

For individuals, leadership is a way to achieve what you know is important, as groups of people invariably achieve more than individuals. If you want to achieve your vision for the future, you need to inspire others to join you. As an individual’s ability to lead develops, so does that person’s confidence and sense of self-efficacy. However, common dangers to guard against are egotism and arrogance.

A group’s effectiveness and sense of inspiration are tied directly to the leader. Study after study shows that leaders (and managers) have the biggest influence on group success and morale. Leaders can be developed and it starts with character. As General Schwarzkopf said, “Leadership is a potent combination of strategy and character. But if you must be without one, be without the strategy."
