Celebrate Your Plan!
We are so proud of the Class of 2020 and want to celebrate with them! To help your senior transition from high school graduates to global and productive citizens, FCPS has created a website to help them solidify their post-secondary plans (including the Senior Survey, mentioned below), document their plans, and Celebrate! To access this site, seniors will need to log into their fcpsschools.net Gmail account and click on this link to access a three-step campaign: FCPS Class of 2020 Website
Senior Survey & Final Transcripts
All seniors who will graduate in June or August 2020 are expected to complete the 5-minute FCPS Senior Survey during this window of time. There are two purposes to this survey.
- The first purpose is to record both the postsecondary plans of all graduates and the final status of the college applications. The data collected from this survey are reported to the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE). The survey also collects data on Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the amount of scholarship money offered and accepted, work-based learning experiences, and alumni contact information.
- The second purpose is for those Seniors who are planning to attend college to indicate where Fairfax HS will send the final transcript. In order for a final transcript to be sent, the survey must be completed.
An email will be sent through Naviance (family connections) to student emails with directions to complete this survey along with a brief 3-question Student Services Questionnaire used for our Senior Awards.
Graduation Announcement Orders
For those families who placed an order earlier this year for graduation announcements from Jostens, these have arrived at school. Staff will be calling families to schedule individual times for curbside pickup.
Service Learning Hours Reminder
- All students must upload their service learning/community service hours into xVol2 by May 1st. By doing so, you could be eligible for a service learning cord or for the civic seal. Our seniors are encouraged to show how they have served the community by recording in this database!
NOVA Community College JumpStart
JumpStart offers current seniors up to two tuition-free college courses – how exciting! To see a list of courses you can take, click here.
National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC)
NACAC created a tool for students and families that serves as a central resource for information about changes in college admission events, deposit dates, summer programming, and more as a result of the coronavirus outbreak. More than 900 colleges and universities have submitted updates using this tool (view in Chrome). It is also advised that students and families check the college’s webpage directly for additional information.
Communicating with Our Team
Your Student Services Team is committed to supporting our students throughout distance learning. Counselors can be reached by email. We will continue to send updates with information regarding awards, caps and gown distribution, and other senior items as we have them available to share. In the meantime, please reach out let us know how we can support you!
College and Career Awareness Resources for Parents and/or Guardians
The following resources have been gathered to help FCPS seniors prepare for the transition from high school. These resources have been shared with seniors via several school and centrally developed Google sites.
Class of 2020 Next Steps
The link above is for your student to access the Class of 2020 Senior Next Steps Google site. In order to access the Google site your child must be logged into their fcpsschools.net, G-suite account. For parents without access to the FCPS Google Suite, the chart below has links to many of the same resources embedded in the Google sites.
Class of 2020 Next Steps
This Class of 2020 Next Steps site was created to help seniors finish what they started. We have broken down these last few weeks of high school into three easy steps:
Step 1: Solidify your Plan
Step 2: Document your Plan
Step 3: Celebrate your Plan
Step 1: Solidify your Plan:
Students are encouraged to speak with their school counselor and/or Career Center specialist, and to also use all of the FCPS resources available to finalize their postsecondary plan. Students are encouraged to solidify plans by selecting a postsecondary path. Options include: Apprenticeships and Internships, Colleges, Employment, Gap Year Programs, and the Military.

Step 2: Document your Plan:
The FCPS Senior Survey occurs every year and the data collected is used to build scattergrams in Naviance. The information provided also helps our schools and the district create resources, opportunities, and provide support to future classes. Schools will reach out to students directly with more information and directions to complete the senior survey. Students will have access April 20 - May 22, 2020
Step 3: Celebrate your Plan:
Starting May 1, 2020, we will kick off a social media campaign with #CelebrateYourPlan. All FCPS seniors are encouraged to share their plans for life after high school.
- What are you planning to major in and which college are you planning to attend?
- What entry level career are you planning to begin and with which company?
- Why did you plan to do a gap year and with which gap year program?
- Why are you planning to join the military and with which branch have you signed up?
Use Twitter, Instagram, Facebook. Don't forget to tag your high school and #ourFCPS and #celebrateyourplan.
