Principal's Corner
Greetings Families,
Thank you for everything you are doing to support distance learning at home. We had four excellent days of learning this week. Routines have begun, schedules are in place and most technology kinks have been worked out both by staff and students. If your child is still experiencing any technology issues, please send an email to his/her teacher.
A reminder we will be holding virtual parent coffees on Tuesday, May 5th:
- Pre-K- 2nd grade: 2:00-2:45
- 3rd grade-6th grade: 3:00-3:45
We are providing a form for you to submit your questions. This form allows you to ask specific questions that will be answered by the Daniels Run administrative team at our parent coffees.
This upcoming week is teacher/staff appreciation week. Our PTA has organized a variety of ways to appreciate our staff. in addition, you can always use our FCPS Cares program to recognize any of our staff members. We are fortunate to have excellent and dedicated teachers and staff at Daniels Run!

Quarantine Journals with Ms. Cotter
As our world takes a historic pause, students in Trisha Cotter’s sixth grade class at Daniels Run Elementary are busy. They are filling the pages of online Quarantine Journals with their experiences of living through a pandemic. Their stories are told in words, drawings, and photographs (lots of selfies).
Check out the full story through the link below and tips for creating your own quarantine journals as well.

Specials Classes
All specialists are providing lessons/activities as well office hours each week that your students can access through our Specials Google Site.
Students must use their username@fcpsschools.net email address to access the content on this site. The link will be on the specialist Blackboard FCPS 24/7 page as well as on each grade levels Google Classroom. Please view this Specials Video Tutorial if you need support in accessing our page. Once your student(s) have accessed the site you might want to consider having them add it as one of their “favorites” tabs. Thank you, and as always do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns!
Student Registration
|
Schools remain closed to families; however, if you have a rising kindergartener or other new student to register, we would like to do a preliminary registration now. If you know of any families that would be new to Daniels Run (that have rising kindergarteners or students in grades 1-6), please forward this information to them. Early registration for next year is important as it supports the number of teachers for which we are staffed.
To register your child for school, please email anunez@fcps.edu with “Registration” in the subject line. If you are able to fill out the registration packet online, save it to your device, and attach it to the email to send back to us, that is the preferred option. If you are not able to do that, please let us know when you might be available for a phone interview. After we receive your email, we will reach out with any additional questions. If you have any questions or concerns about registration, please email Mrs. Nunez.

Grab and Go Meals
PLEASE NOTE THE TIME CHANGE!!!
FCPS is providing no-cost grab and go breakfast and lunch meals from 9:15-9:45 a.m., Monday through Friday at Daniels Run ES.
All FCPS students (regardless of age) are eligible for no-cost grab and go breakfast and lunch, as well as other county children, under the age of 18. Adults picking up meals for children should let staff know how many children's meals they need. Adults may pay $2 for the meals as well.
Meal pick-up stations are generally located in the bus lanes at the schools or in the kiss and ride area. Look for the canopy tent along with Food and Nutrition Services staff, who will deliver meals directly to vehicles. Walk-ups are welcome at all sites. Walkers are asked to use school sidewalks to safely navigate their walk to the pick-up stations.
As a reminder, it is important to follow social distancing guidelines. Be sure to stand a minimum of 6 feet apart from others and practice regular hand washing, including prior to leaving a residence to pick-up meals, upon returning home, and before consuming food.
