Dear Families,
We plan to move forward with one hour synchronous lessons and office hours on BBCU. Google Meet will be used by Specialists for small groups and office hours. Teachers will communicate with students on how and when to access Google Meet in their Google Classrooms. Students will also be able to access asynchronous lessons via google Classroom, ebooks, packets, and Apple Channel 21. Both of these work easily on smartphones, Kindle Fires, IPads, laptops, etc. As we are all aware, this is not the same as coming to school and learning and as parents. You may decide how much and how often your child participates in any of the activities in order to best make your home life a happy place.
We feel that BBCU really functions as the nicest platform for whole group focus lessons and teacher and student virtual interactions. However, if we have issues with it, we can change our plan and move to Google Meets for synchronous learning. Next we will start with BBCU and see how it goes.
Below are videos on how to access each. Teachers will be sending you new schedules for office hours and synchronous learning times this weekend. On Monday, we plan to be on BBCU at the synchronous time and will use that time to share how students access Google Meet and connect with children. We will then plan for synchronous lessons moving forward.
At this time, we are scheduling limited tech repairs Wednesday’s from 8:00am to 10:00am. If you have a problem with any school hardware, please let your teacher know and you will be contacted to schedule a time for repair. You may only come if you are scheduled and complete the health screening form that we will send you.
I am thinking of each of you during this time and wish you peace and health. Our staff is working diligently to ensure positive experiences and positive communication with all. Please reach out with questions and know we will do our best to support you.

Principal

Please know it is possible that your child’s teacher may experience technical difficulties when in an online, synchronous learning lesson. If there is no other teacher in the online environment, please have your child log out of the live session and go to their Google Classroom to continue working on assignments posted by their teachers. Teachers can then check in with the students in the asynchronous Google Classroom. Thank you for your support as we work together in this new learning environment.
Together, we can all be great Digital Citizens! We encourage you to review the following two links with your children as friendly reminders of our FCPS Student Rights and Responsibilities while participating in our virtual distance learning opportunities.

Curbside meal pick-up stations are generally located in the bus lanes at the schools or in the kiss and ride area. Look for the canopy tent along with Food and Nutrition Services staff, who will deliver meals directly to vehicles.
Walk-ups are still welcome at all sites. Walkers are asked to use school sidewalks to safely navigate their walk to the pick-up stations.
Breakfast and lunch meals are available together and wherever meals are being distributed.
As a reminder, it is important to follow social distancing guidelines. Be sure to stand a minimum of 6 feet apart from others and practice regular hand washing, including prior to leaving a residence to pick-up meals, upon returning home, and before consuming food.
