Senior Information

We need to verify the gown measurements (height and weight) of every senior. Caps are one size fits all, so head measurement is not needed. Even if you have already completed an order form, you still need to complete this form at the link below. The form has also been sent to parents to ensure we get 100% response. Please complete as soon as possible. No later than Thursday, April 30th.

  • Information for the Service Cord, Civic Seal, and STEM Seal can be found here.  The requirements for each have been modified in light of the current situation.  But please note that FCPS has set May 1, 2020 as the deadline for uploading hours onto x2Vol.  Only hours that have been uploaded and verified by a supervising adult will be approved.
  • Thank you to all seniors who have submitted their videos announcing their plans for next year! We want to make sure we include and honor all seniors in this opportunity so we have extended the submission deadline to May 8th!Seniors, please be sure to send your 5-15 second video announcing your plans for next year to saxonbroadcast@gmail.com!
  • On Tuesday, April 28th, the Senior Survey will be open for seniors to complete. We will provide step by step instructions to help you successfully complete the survey, which allows us to send your final transcript to the school you will be attending in the fall, and is used to gather data about post-secondary plans, college decisions, and scholarships, which is reported to FCPS and VDOE as part of required graduate reporting. Please look for an email on Tuesday with instructions, thank you.

The following are a preview of the questions on the FCPS Senior Survey, so you will have the correct information with you to complete it.

    1. What is your post-graduation plan?
    2. What are your college applications results? A final decision must be selected for every college application, you will be asked to add, update, and verify all college applications.
    3. Did you submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)? This is a federal government form that helps the college determine your financial aid. Your parent(s) and/or guardian(s) may have completed this form for you.
    4. Did you receive any federal government financial aid other than loans? This question refers to need-based aid that does not have to be paid back, such as a Pell Grant.
    5. A scholarship is any money awarded to a student based on merit (e.g., academic, athletic, talent, leadership, community service, etc.) and does not include grants listed on any financial aid award letters. Have you been offered any scholarships? (it may be helpful to gather any scholarship offers or awards prior to completing the senior survey)
    6. List the total amount of scholarship money you have been awarded and are accepting and using. If an award is offered for each year, give the total amount. Example: 1000 per year for 4 years is 4000.
    7. During high school, did you participate in any work-based learning experience? You will be asked to select from a list of activities. If you did not participate in work-based learning experiences, please select “No experience.”
    8. Please provide an email address that you will use after graduation. Please note this question is optional. On occasion, FCPS may send information to FCPS alumni or request your participation in FCPS events and initiatives. Providing your email address will allow FCPS to request your feedback, as well as share news regarding the school system and its alumni. Your email address will be used by FCPS for these purposes and will not be shared outside of FCPS without the written consent of your parent and/or legal guardian, or of yourself once you reach age 18 or begin attending a postsecondary school, unless the disclosure is otherwise authorized by law. (Optional)

Social worker and psychologist:   Langley’s social worker Catherine Kennedy and psychologist Anna Davis recently created a Google classroom where Saxons can access stress management resources . They’ve posted activities and several links. Students can assess the classroom from their FCPS Gmail accounts here , and using code buh6s76 . Students also can set up individual appointments with either staff member from their FCPS Gmail using this link .

Parents can set up phone appointments as well, either for themselves or their student, using this FCPS form . The parent consultations are intended to help parents support their student's emotional well-being, and the student consultations are intended to help students having a hard time with anxiety, mood, behavior, or peer or family interactions. (In an emergency, please call 911 or access mental health support online ).

Parents and students also can email Ms. Davis at adavis3@fcps.edu and Ms. Kennedy at cskennedy@fcps.edu .

Now's the Time to Donate Your Leaf!

We're still planning to landscape Langley's main courtyard as soon as logistically possible.  Just how gorgeous and green it will be depends upon how many donations are made ASAP. To help, donate a leaf-- or two!-- to the Langley Legacy Tree, the beautiful wall sculpture that is “growing” in the Langley Lobby.  Another 40+ leaves and several birds were added to the tree right before the school closed.

Leaves make wonderful graduation gifts! About 100 of our seniors/soon-to-be grads already have a leaf inscribed in their honor. Leaves are also a great way to pay tribute to teachers, family and friends. Giving levels are copper leaf ($50), silver leaf ($100), gold leaf ($200), and acorn or bird ($500). With a $1,000+ donation, your family's name is included on the Courtyard Benefactor Plaque, which will be installed next to the Tree.

Click on ptsalangley.org to donate your tree leaves/acorns/birds.
