Distance Learning Update - 4/23
Jaguar Community,
I want to thank you for your patience and flexibility as FCPS works to resolve technology and access issues. Beginning with a training for staff this morning, we have a plan to resume synchronous learning next week (see schedule below). Our plan includes pivoting away from FCPS 24/7 Blackboard and towards one of two platforms approved by FCPS: Blackboard Collaborate Ultra (BBCU) and/or Google Meet for synchronous instruction and office hours. For the remainder of this week, the plan is for teachers to continue offering asynchronous learning opportunities for all students.
Students should:
- Check their Google fcpsschools.net account frequently over the next 24-hours. They should be looking for instructions from their teachers on how to access BBCU or Google Meet.
- Check Google Classroom or FCPS 24/7 Blackboard for asynchronous assignments and activities.
How can parents help?
- Remind your child to check their Google fcpsschools.net account frequently over the next 24 hours.
- Remind your child to enter class sessions at their scheduled times next week (see schedule below).
- Remind your child not to share any BBCU or Google Meet links that they receive.
3rd Quarter Grading Timeline - UPDATED
- Due to the pause in teacher-led “live” instruction, the third quarter has been extended until Friday, May 1, 2020. Students will work with their teachers to make up third quarter missing/incomplete assignments and complete reassessments by May 1, 2020.
- Access to ParentVUE and StudentVUE will be turned off from Friday, May 1 - Friday, May 8 to allow teachers to export during that time.
- Grades will be available in ParentVUE/StudentVUE on Saturday, May 9.
