Annandale Community:
Thank you for your patience as FCPS works through technology and access issues with Blackboard Learn 24-7. Schools were presented with two options moving forward with synchronous sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays: Blackboard Collaborate Ultra (BbCU) or Google Meet. After careful consideration, conversations with members of the school community and others in FCPS, we believe that Google Meet will allow us to engage the most students meaningfully in synchronous sessions at Annandale.
As a next step, a number of teachers have volunteered to pilot Google Meet with their students this week. Based upon their feedback and additional guidance from FCPS, we will share next steps and best practices using Google Meet for synchronous sessions with staff.
Our goal is to be ready for synchronous sessions on Tuesday, April 28 (Red Day). In the meantime, please continue to encourage your student to keep working on their lesson grids and reach out to their teachers via email if they have any questions.
In other news, due to last week’s difficulties that resulted in the cancellation of synchronous sessions, the 3rd quarter has been extended. Students can now turn in any 3rd Quarter missing/incomplete assignments and reassessments by May 1. Therefore, please login to your ParentVue account, write down any missing/incomplete assignments and encourage your student to turn them in as soon as possible. Teachers and counselors will be reaching out to students.
Parents can view 3rd quarter grades until April 23 and then again starting May 9. The downtime is for teachers to complete entering 3rd term grades. If you have not opted into electronic report cards, mailings will begin May 12.
If you have questions specific to your student’s needs, please do not hesitate to reach out to a counselor, administrator or teacher.

Important Information
Student Services - Counselors Available - If you have concerns regarding your child’s socio-emotional health or mental well-being, please contact your child’s counselor for support. Counselors are available to check in with your student through email or the voice-dial feature on Google Meets. Unless your child has been opted out of counseling services, counselors may be reaching out to your child if they have requested an appointment or if staff members have noticed concerns that may prompt a check in. As always, counselors will stay in communication with parents whenever necessary.
Counselors are currently working on additional plans of support for students, parents, and staff during the COVID-19 closures. In the meantime, please reach out to your student's counselor if you need support or have any questions.
If you have any other questions please feel free to reach out to our Director of Student Services, Dr. Paula L. DiSalvo at pdisalvo@fcps.edu
