We look forward to synchronous (live) learning on April 27

Good Morning Fairfax Villa Families,

We appreciate your patience as we continue to work through technical issues in Distance Learning. Several parents have shared how learning continues to happen despite technical challenges. Teachers, students and parents are continuing to demonstrate many Positivity Project character strengths.

For the remainder of this week, we will be continuing with asynchronous learning materials, which will include the 1 hour of instruction that will be pre-recorded by our teachers. As you know, teachers shared yesterday how they will be holding their office hours. Some may still be holding the office hours through their Collaborate Ultra sessions via Blackboard 24/7 and some may be available via email at the time.

We are creating student-specific links to Blackboard Collaborate Ultra to tighten security for synchronous learning. As each student-specific link is created, an email with the link will be sent directly to each child’s fcpsschools.net email address, either today or on  Monday, April 27.  In addition, the teachers will be sending an email this week to parents and students with directions for accessing the new secure Blackboard Collaborate Ultra links and reminders of the scheduled times for instruction and office hours.

Thank you for all you have been doing to support your children. We look forward to migrating synchronous (live) learning to the new Blackboard Collaborate Ultra links beginning Monday, April 27.

Stay safe and healthy!

Our best,

Dave Gerstner, Principal
