Update from Silverbrook ES

From the Principal

Dear Parents,

I hope you were able to read the most recent message from Dr. Brabrand, FCPS Superintendent of Schools, that was sent out yesterday evening.  As stated in his letter, classes are canceled for today, 4/16/20.

I just wanted to follow up with you regarding the changes made to our use of Blackboard Collaborate Ultra (BBCU) which is the tool that we use to conduct Virtual Teacher Directed Learning and Teacher Office Hours.  The links that we sent you earlier to get into BBCU – are no longer valid.  Following the directions set by the FCPS Instructional Technology Office, we have established new procedures to access BBCU.  Each grade level has created an email and a direction sheet for you and your child to use to help access BBCU.  Some teachers may have already sent their notice to you yesterday and others may be getting it out to you today. Either way, please be sure to hold on to those instructions so that your child will be ready to begin class again on Monday, April 20th

I appreciate your patience through this rough first week.  It has been frustrating for our staff as well.  We were happy to hear that Dr. Brabrand and his administration are working to take care of any issues so that our distance learning program can move forward in a productive and consistent manner.  If you have any questions please reach out to your child’s teacher and they will be happy to help you.

Continue to stay safe and healthy.  We all look forward to seeing all of our students in their virtual classroom next week!
