Dear Woodley Hills Family,
As always, a top priority of Woodley Hills and FCPS is to ensure that our students are safe when they are under our care. Yesterday was a great day of learning at WHES. I dropped in classrooms and saw excited faces and wonderful learning occurring. I was quite impressed with how quickly our students adapted to the digital environment. With that being said, not every school in FCPS had that same experience. There were some issues at the secondary level and the school division has decided to add additional layers of security for the safety of our children, teachers, and school community. This layer will require that students enter Blackboard 24/7 to join Blackboard Collaborate Ultra, which is the tool that allows your child to meet virtually with their teacher(s). This is going to require some training for our teachers and a major change to our Blackboard Course. We are sorry for this inconvenience but please know we are working as quickly as possible to set up the courses and our goal is to be fully up and running for Monday. We recognize that is frustrating for some of you but this is new to all of us and we will work through it together. Students may continue to work on their FCPS Distance Learning packets and/or any independent work their classroom teacher assigned.
Due to the time needed for training and adjustments FCPS has now decided to cancel Distance Learning for today. During this time, teachers will be making grade level or individual courses. Classroom, special education, and specialist teachers will not have office hours tomorrow. Our intended school schedule for Thursday is as follows:

For tomorrow, please use the steps on the following pages to access Blackboard Collaborate Ultra during your child’s grade level instructional hour.
STEP 1: Have the STUDENT log in to 24/7 Blackboard: https://fcps.blackboard.com/webapps/login/
STEP 2: Select the “Courses” tab. Then choose “WHES Distance Learning”
STEP 3: Select “BBCU Rooms” from the left-hand side.Then, select your student’s grade level.
STEP 4: Click “Join Session” (note: you may get an alert about phoning in, but just ‘x’ out of it)
