4/15 Update: Important message from Fairfax Villa

Dear Fairfax Villa Families,

All of our teachers received training this morning and we are ready to see our students once again.  However, Blackboard is now experiencing technical difficulties. We would ask that you use the directions below and try to log in at the time listed.  If you are not successful after attempting to log in, that means that Blackboard is still down and the session will be cancelled for today. Hopefully this issue will be resolved as we move throughout the school day.

As we communicated with you last night, the Blackboard Collaborate Ultra session links for teacher led instruction that your child’s teacher sent you will no longer work.  With that said, ALL students (K-12) will need to access the teacher led instruction and teacher office hours via Blackboard 24/7 (https://fcps.blackboard.com/).

Please refer to schedule below  for the new times for Wednesday, April 15th.  Again, we will resume our regular instructional schedule and teacher office hours on Thursday, April 16th.  :

  • Click on the grade level course. (i.e.  Fairfax Villa Third Grade)
  • Look for the Blackboard Collaborate Ultra tab on the left menu. Click on that tab.
  • Students will see the sessions they are enrolled in.
  • Click on the session button.
  • Click on the JOIN button to join the session.
  • The student’s name will automatically show up.
  • Parents are NOT able to access this on their Blackboard  Parent account.
  • Students are permitted to  log in 15 minutes early.

We apologize for the last minute notice and we appreciate your flexibility as we learn to navigate Distance Learning together as a division during this unprecedented time.  Please know that we are in this with you and we will support our students through these times as best we can.

Our best,
