Change in Today's Distance Learning Schedule

Coates Families,

As I’m sure you’ve already heard, all FCPS is delaying distance learning lessons today so that teachers can reconfigure our Blackboard (24-7) & Blackboard Collaborate Ultra sites to take advantage of better tools for managing the online classroom environment.  I support these efforts, which will include a student log-in feature and effectively shut down classrooms when they are not in use.

Since teachers need to put work into making these changes this morning, your child will not have a teacher-led lesson at 9:00 (K-2nd grades) or 9:30 (3rd-6th grades).

We do plan on holding our 12:00 (3rd-6th) & 12:30 (K-2nd) lessons as planned.  Specials lessons will happen at 2:00 & 2:30 as planned.

Your child’s teacher will send you an email or remind text shortly with a link to the new Blackboard site, where you can log in and then access the lesson links and assignments for this week.

Thank you for your patience as FCPS works to improve our program.  I want to be clear that at Coates, we had an overall good first day of distance learning, and I look forward to today’s lessons.
