Purple Up! For Military Kids Day!

Each year, April is designated as Month of the Military Child. Reserved for celebrating the resiliency of military-connected children and for their tremendous service and sacrifice, this year’s Month of the Military Child comes at a time when military-connected children and their families are faced with altogether new challenges.
On April 22, 2020 schools and communities are encouraged to wear purple. Purple represents the blending of the colors of the five branches of our armed forces. Here in Virginia, we are proud to be home to Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy, National Guard and Reserve families.

Fuel Our Heroes!
You can support and cheer on essential and frontline workers who risk their own lives and the lives of their families trying to combat the pandemic. Among these heroes is our very own Kwon family. Firefighter Jason Kim, and his crew at Station 30, A-Shift led by Captain Todd O'Brien and 1400 of their colleagues in the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department of Northern Virginia.

We are always concerned for our students' safety. We want you to know that while students are distance learning, both Blackboard Collaborate and Google Meet have gone through both instructional and technical reviews and meet FCPS security standards. All FCPS Google applications are within the FCPS firewall and cannot connect to other non-FCPS accounts. FCPS’ Blackboard site is specifically designed for FCPS for the protection of staff and all students

Cardio Drumming
This year, Deer Park P.E. teachers were awarded a grant from the American Heart Association. As part of the grant requirements, Ms. Jeter and Mrs. Marco need feedback from your student. Although our unit was cut short due to school closure, please have your student log in to the google form link and answer the questions. Students will need to use their @fcspschools.net account to sign in. The log in is not to gather names but to limit responses one per student. Please complete the survey by Sunday, April 26. The link will also be posted in each grade level Google Classroom.
