Hughes MS Updates

Principal's Message

Our Online School starts April 12th, although you are already beginning to hear from teachers to connect you back to school.  We are excited to begin teaching and learning again as we all venture on to a whole new way to do school!  The school schedule will be as follows:

l

Students follow the same class schedule as third quarter.  They only get online for the subjects listed on Wednesday and Friday.  Elective classes and PE may choose to meet online.  Their teacher will communicate that to the class.  Students should check their @fcpsschools.net email account for all communication from teachers.

*stay tuned for Virtual “Social Hours” hosted by LHMS staff

The LHMS Digital Planner has been developed to help students organize themselves for their school week. The student can print it out or make a copy digitally for each week. We recommend creating a folder on your Google Drive to hold the copies of the agenda for each week.

What should your student be doing now?

  • Working on any 3rd quarter work that was assigned before March 13th that your student may have been missing.  Teachers will report 3rd quarter grades after April 24th.
  • Using the resources in the Continuity of Learning section (with the light bulb) on Blackboard FCPS 24-7.  https://fcps.blackboard.com/webapps/blackboard/content/listContent.jsp?course_id=_1439998_1&content_id=_41765079_1
  • Reading!
  • Beginning to review content by completing the grade-level packet that comes by US mail from FCPS' Instructional Services Department (ISD) for students.  Your student will receive a packet like this from the county each week through the end of the school year.  Our teachers will refer to these packets with students in their planning.

NOTE: It is very important that we have your most updated home address, phone number(s), and email address(es).  If you need to update yours, please email Ms. Chevannes-Smith at kchevannessm@fcps.edu

The staff is very excited to get back to working with and supporting students in their learning and development.  If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your student’s teacher or the counselors or administration team. And continue to care for yourself and loved ones.

Sincerely,

Aimée Monticchio

Principal
