Additional Information:

Laptops

In preparation for the school closure, we want to ensure families have technology access at home. To support distance learning opportunities and access for all students, we will offer loaner laptops on Monday, March 16 from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.  Laptops are intended for families without access. When distance learning initiates, students would be expected to access materials at times. Parents of students must come in to sign for the laptops.

Wifi Access

Information regarding the process for requesting portable wireless devices (MiFi’s) will also be available on Monday. Mifi’s will be for those families that do not have WiFi in the home. These resources are extremely limited and there is a wait for them as they will be distributed from the county stock.   In addition, Comcast is providing free internet to families in need: More information can be found here: https://www.wxyz.com/news/national/coronavirus/comcast-offering-internet-essentials-package-free-for-60-months-during-coronavirus-outbreak?fbclid=IwAR318GCjDvZO0UviyMnIML6j_adHw9hVyGq97Yd366hXtN6u7TbtEBxwPek

ParentVue Accounts

This weekend, IT will be pushing out emails to any parent who does not currently have a ParentVue account. Please sign up if you do not have an account, this will be important for distance learning.

Food Distribution

Fairfax County Public Schools is providing emergency grab and go lunches at no cost for students at five sites to students (more sites may be added), from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. School-age students are welcome to come to any of the five sites below to pick up a lunch during that time period.

  • Bailey’s Elementary School, 6111 Knollwood Drive, Falls Church
  • Hutchison Elementary School, 13209 Parcher Avenue, Herndon
  • Hybla Valley Elementary School, 3415 Lockheed Boulevard, Alexandria
  • London Towne Elementary School, 6100 Stone Road, Centreville
  • Burke Center, 9645 Burke Lake Road, Burke

All meals are available at no cost to children 18 years and under. Adult lunches are available for purchase for $2.

We missed having snow days this year but certainly did not anticipate Coronavirus days!  Thank you for your support and understanding during this difficult time.  As additional information becomes available, we will communicate with you as quickly as possible. We understand this is a difficult time and families may be feeling a variety of emotions around this closure. Take good care and stay healthy.

Sincerely,

Lisa Reddel

Principal
