UPDATES FROM SCMS
MARCH 11th, 2020
Dear Mustang Community:
Many faculty, staff and students have had questions about the recent health news and its impact on our school. Please visit the FCPS FAQ link and resources page for updated information. This site is updated frequently. Please remember to follow all recommended health procedures: wash hands frequently and remain home if sick. See the student illness reminders/guidelines below. More information and guidance will be provided as it becomes available to us.
IMPORTANT CALENDAR ITEMS TO NOTE:
- Monday, March 16th. Student holiday/teacher workday. Monday will be planning day for staff members.
- Tuesday – March 17th will still be a BLUE DAY. Our blue/green calendar does not change when we have unexpected days off (like snow days).
-
CULTURAL HERITAGE NIGHT UPDATE: Based on anticipated low community turnout, our school has decided to cancel our Cultural Heritage Night that was scheduled to take place on Thursday, March 19th. We realize this may be a disappointment. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
.
STUDENT ILLNESS REMINDER:
Please help us prevent the spread of illness. Remember that students who have fevers (100.4 and higher), vomiting and diarrhea are not able to stay in school. It is best for children to be at home for 24 hours after these conditions resolve. If your child becomes ill during the school day, he/she MUST check into the clinic before calling or going home. For more information about health and clinic policies please click here: https://southcountyms.fcps.edu/resources/clinic
PARENT SIS ACCOUNT:
The Student Information System (SIS) Parent Account provides online access to information about your child’s attendance, class performance and course materials. You may find out more detailed information by visiting the FCPS SIS Parent Account Overview site.
We continue to encourage all parents to have their own SIS Parent Account. All data should be reviewed for accuracy, such as parent phone numbers and emergency contacts. If some of the information about your child is incorrect please contact our Student Information Assistant, Ms. Sherri Perper, by email at slperper@fcps.edu.
You may also visit SCMS’s SIS information page to learn how to sign up and for responses to frequently asked questions. https://southcountyms.fcps.edu/sis-parent-student-account.
We encourage you to visit our school website frequently for updates and announcements. For more detailed information on all school matters, please visit our website at http://www.fcps.edu/southcountyms/
For further information on planning and events sponsored by the PTSO, please visit their website at http://www.scmsptso.org/
