Help Us Celebrate World Down Syndrome Day

dsd

March 21st is World Down Syndrome Day. The date 3/21 is significant as it was selected to represent the trisomy of the 21st chromosome which causes Down Syndrome.  Fun, crazy socks have become symbolic of Down Syndrome awareness. The sock initiative was created to get people talking and asking questions about Down Syndrome. There are many organizations today that create crazy socks to raise money and awareness for Down Syndrome. Crazy socks made by our special education students will be on display in the lobby to raise awareness for Down Syndrome!

Students and Staff are invited to wear your own crazy socks on March 20th! (March 21st is a Saturday)

School Health Services Survey

health room

The Fairfax County Health Department (FCHD) employs school health aides and public health nurses who provide school health services to the students in Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS). To determine the quality of these services, a survey has been developed by the FCHD to be shared with all parents or guardians and school staff members who interact with the school health rooms.

The survey will take less than five minutes to complete and will provide the FCHD with valuable information.  Your participation in this important endeavor is appreciated.

Electronic versions of the survey forms may be accessed at:

Help Us Help Others

LCES is partnering with Chantilly High School student, Maya Aboul-Hosn, a former LCES student, to collect donations of non-perishable snacks for the Ronald McDonald House Charity. From 2/26 to 3/12, families may donate snack items, such as the examples listed on the attached FLIER, and students can drop them off in the lobby outside of the cafeteria in boxes where the Warm Tree is usually set up.

With your help, we can make a difference in the lives of others.
