Career Fair...Save the Date
Save the date for our second annual Career Fair on March 30th! The purpose of Career Day is to expose students to a variety of careers in order to jumpstart their thinking about the future. By preparing early, students will be more likely to be college and career ready after high school graduation. Students in grades 2-6 will participate in Career Day.
However, we can’t do it without you! Please be thinking about how you can support Career Day! More information on this flyer or see today's Tuesday Folder.

SOL Schedule
Please take time to review the SOL schedule for the 2020 school year. It can be found here. We ask that you please try to avoid having your child out of school on these days. Please avoid making dentist/doctor appointments on these days.
These are the dates that your child will be assessed on the Virginia State Standards. While these test provide us valuable information on how we can continue to support the children, we believe that it is important that the students do not feel additional stress about the assessment. To support your child, we suggest that you keep your child's bedtime and morning routine. This will ensure a good nights sleep and a relaxed start to the day when they arrive on time for school.

#WeAreFC!
Vaping and Electronic Cigarette use has been at the forefront of a national discussion for the last few months. As there has been a significant increase in the number of youth involved with these devices, along with associated health concerns, we will be having a parent information session on Vaping and Tobacco use on March 16th here at Luther Jackson Middle School.
The presentation will be conducted by Anna Teeter, the Substance Abuse Prevention Specialists from the FCPS Office of Student Safety and Wellness. In their role, they provide Prevention Services in the form of Parent and Community Presentations as well as directly to your students through a variety of formats.
In addition, they also provide Intervention Services to students with substance abuse issues either as a follow up to a discipline issue or a voluntary referral. They can also provide connections to outside services when needed.
We look forward to seeing you at Luther Jackson on March 16th at 5:30 p.m.
School Health Services Survey
The Fairfax County Health Department (FCHD) employs school health aides and public health nurses who provide school health services to the students in Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS). To determine the quality of these services, a survey has been developed by the FCHD to be shared with all parents or guardians and school staff members who interact with the school health rooms. The survey has been approved for distribution by the FCPS’ Internal Survey Advisory Committee.
Electronic versions of the survey forms may be accessed at:

The survey will take less than five minutes to complete and will provide the FCHD with valuable information. Your participation in this important endeavor is appreciated.
