Doors Open at 5:30 PM

Come out and support the 6th grade at our annual Teachers vs. Students basketball game. There will be food and drinks available for purchase and you can't forget our amazing dance team that will be performing for you! Whether you root for the teachers or students we hope to see you there cheering for your favorite team. Go Dragons!


Coronavirus (COVID-19) Updates!

Keeping our students, staff and families safe and healthy is our #1 priority.  Here are some ways to protect yourself and your family.

What can you do? The first line of defense is handwashing which is easy, cheap, and effective in preventing the spread of germs. When done correctly, handwashing is the single most effective way to prevent the spread of contagious diseases.

  • Simple steps to practice proper handwashing are:
  1. Wet hands
  2. Lather with soap
  3. Scrub for 20 seconds (Have fun and sing a song)
  4. Rinse
  5. Dry
  • Cover your cough
  • Stay home when you are sick

Dogwood ES Primary Years Programme (PYP) Progress Report

Our new Primary Years Programme (PYP) progress report will be sent home with all students from head start through sixth grade on Thursday, March 12.  This progress report is an opportunity to share and celebrate student progress within the PYP framework.

School Health Services Survey

The Fairfax County Health Department (FCHD) employs school health aides and public health nurses who provide school health services to the students in Fairfax County Public Schools. To determine the quality of these services, a survey has been developed by the FCHD to be shared with all parents or guardians and school staff members who interact with the school health rooms.

Visiting Dogwood!

We are continually working to provide our staff and students with a safe and secure learning environment. Please be mindful that all visitors to our building need to enter through the front of the building .  We have a doorbell system that can allow our front office staff to welcome you into the school.  Once in the building all visitors are required to stop at the main office to sign in. 


Cafeteria Volunteers

Lunch time is a great time to have family members join our school community and support our students in the cafeteria.  Our cafeteria is always buzzing from 10:50-1:30 daily.  If you are interested in volunteering or learning more about this opportunity, please sign up on the link provide.

Kindergarten Registration & Orientation

We are happy to announce that we are now taking registrations for students who will be entering kindergarten in the 2020-2021 school year. 

The student must be five years of age on or before September 30, 2020, to register in FCPS this coming year. Parents will need to provide the original birth certificate, a copy of their deed or lease with their name on it as proof of residency, the Virginia School Entrance Health Form completed and signed by a U.S. physician. The physical must be dated within twelve months of starting school.

Parents and rising kindergarten students are invited to join us on Wednesday, April 1st, from 5:00-7:00 pm for our Kindergarten Orientation.

Dogwood Hours:

8:35am: Doors open 

Bus riders and walkers enter through the front door and Kiss and Ride students enter through 5. All students go directly to classrooms.

8:50 am: Instruction begins

3:35 pm: Dismissal

Any changes to Dismissal procedures must be communicated before 3 pm.
