Dear Franklin Families,
We are excited to announce the Molly Bridenbaugh, one of our 7th Grade History teachers, was selected as the Outstanding New Secondary Teacher for the Chantilly Pyramid. She will now go on to compete at the Region Level with the other pyramid winners from Region 5. We are very proud of Molly and we are grateful for her endless dedication to her colleagues, our families, and most importantly, our students. Way to go Molly!

Parent Coffee with the Principal

Please join us for our next PTA meeting on March 10 at 6:30 pm in the FMS Library. We are a small but mighty group and we will start planning staff appreciation events, end of school year celebrations and start building our leadership team for next year!

Scholastic Art Awards of 2020 Exhibition and Ceremony
Fairfax County Public Schools will be presenting an exhibition honoring Regional Scholastic Gold Key and Silver Key Award Winning Students from the Fairfax County Art Region until Sunday, March 15th at Northern Virginia Community College's Ernst Cultural Center located on the Annandale Campus.
There will be an Award Recognition Ceremony on Wednesday, March 4th, 2020 starting at 7:30 pm and doors will open at 6:30 pm.
One of our Franklin students will be represented as 8th grader Hannah Erbe’s Cardboard Self-Portrait received a Silver Key and will be honored this night. Congratulations to Hannah for this outstanding achievement and representing our school with your award-winning artwork!
Franklin MS After-School Programs
Mark your calendars – the Franklin vs. Rocky Run Basketball Game will be on Friday, March 27, at 6:00 pm at Chantilly HS.
Drama Club – Ms. Young will be holding Drama Club after school the last Wednesday of each month for both blocks. Students must sign-up on their grade level google classroom. The sign-up for Wednesday, February 26 is available on google classroom for students to sign up.
General After-School Information
- The after-school program will not convene on the following days before holidays; 4/3/2020; 5/22/2020
- Transportation is available to students staying after school on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays – departing Franklin at 4:45 PM. The late bus schedule is posted on the after-school bulletin board in the cafeteria and on your child’s grade level google classroom. Please be aware that the after-school late bus numbers and routes may differ from your child’s normal school day bus route. Please use the Kiss-and- Ride to pick-up your child from the After-School Program.
- Please see below for the After-School activities for Monday, March 2nd - Thursday, March 13th.
- Students who plan to stay after-school must notify their parent/guardian BEFORE the 2:15 dismissal bell and should report to the cafeteria with all their belongings after the 2:15 dismissal bell for after-school check-in.
- The majority of clubs/activities is open enrollment; however, due to limited capacities some will require registration. If registration is needed, it will be posted on your child’s grade level Google Classroom.
