Parfait Day-Make a Yogurt and Granola Parfait for lunch!

On Wednesday, February 26, 2020, Annandale Terrace Elementary School’s Salad Bar will turn into a Parfait Bar where students can build their own yogurt and fruit parfaits as an entrée. A Parfait includes:

-Fat-free vanilla yogurt
-Whole grain granola
-Cinnamon-spiced apples and other fresh fruit

  • There is a special menu on Parfait Day that is different from what is listed on the normal lunch menu.
  • Students will be able to choose one of the following options for lunch:
    • Yogurt and Granola Parfait
    • Baked Cheese Sticks w/ Marinara

*Both options come with choice of fruits/vegetables and choice of milk.

  • Students will choose either a Parfait or Baked Cheese Sticks as their meal.
    • The Double Deal option is available for students. If a student chooses, they can have a Parfait and the Baked Cheese Sticks as a Double Deal.

  • The Salad Bar will still have two choices of fruits and two choices of vegetables for all students to select from for their school lunch on Parfait Day, regardless of which meal option they choose.

Ms. Jones’ and Ms. Miller’s first grade classes were on Channel 9 news! The teachers talked about a fun Valentine’s Day project that combined kindness with learning about U.S. geography. We hope you enjoy the video!


Math Night

SOL Pass

SOL Pass provides an opportunity for students to practice for the SOL science, social studies, and reading tests.  All Annandale Terrace students have access to the site.  You may access the site through www.solpass.org/login or by going to Student Resources from our school website.

When on the login page for SOL Pass, enter our school name (Annandale Terrace ES (Fairfax) and password (annandale).  Click Login.

Once you have logged into SOL Pass, click on Elementary School and select the subject that you would like to practice.

Scholarship for Summer RecPac and PARTAKES -FREE AND REDUCED MEALS APPLICATIONS

In order to qualify for Summer RecPac and Extracurricular Classes scholarships provided by the Park Authority, an approval letter from FCPS Food Services for free and reduced meals application needs to be submitted along with the scholarship request form.

The registration for Parktakes Extracurricular Classes and Camp Registration begins on February 4!

Please note classes are held throughout Fairfax County and parents are responsible for the transportation.

2020 Spring SOL Testing Reminder

The SOL tests will be administered starting May 4 through May 29.

Please ensure your child is in class every day to ensure they will do their best!

 


HAVE LUNCH WITH US!

Please come and have lunch with your child any day of the week!  Lunches for adults are available for $4.50 and breakfasts are available for $2.20. Since our focus is on wellness and reinforcing healthy eating habits, we do ask that you do not bring food from fast-food restaurants (e.g., French fries, soda) for yourself or your child to share during lunch in the school cafeteria.


A Call to Parents of Rising Kindergarteners

It is that time of year again. If you have a child who will be 5 years old by September 30, 2020 please call the school at 703-658-5600 to set up an appointment to register your child for the 2020-2021 school year. 

If you know anyone who has a child who will be 5 by September 30th, please pass this information along to them.

Annandale Terrace Elementary School monthly Family Food Market will be offered on these dates in 2020: February 27,  March 26,  April 30, May 28, and June 4.

FOOD for OTHERS in ANNANDALE!! A pilot project for Annandale families!

Beginning March 3 through June 30, 2020, the Heritage Campus of the Annandale United Methodist Church (next to Hmart on Heritage Drive) will be offering emergency food from Food For Others. The Heritage Campus building will be open from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on TUESDAY evenings for these emergency food referrals in order to help parents who have no transportation, or who work during the day. Please see Jane Thatcher, School Social Worker, in the Parent Center for a referral. Income and family information is required but is confidential and not shared with other agencies. This location will also be offering health screening, nutrition information and other services in the future. Watch the newsletter!
