Congratuations Ankita Balaji and Lara De!!!
Dear Families,
We’ve had a busy week here at Floris. We began our week with our annual Spelling Bee. Congratulations to our winner Ankita Balaji, 3rd grader from Ms. Rothman’s class, and to our runner-up, Lara De, 6th grader from Ms. Molitor’s class. Ankita will be invited to participate in the Fairfax County Spelling Bee. We also congratulate our Spelling Bee finalists as they all did a fantastic job!!! And a huge thank you to our bee coordinator, Lise Greenfield, our pronouncer, Dan Murphy, and our judges Tiffany Dowling and Becky Murphy.
With February being the month of love, it’s the perfect time for me and Mrs. Dorr to show our adoration for our teachers and staff. On Wednesday, February 12th, we set up a special chocolate fountain complete with fruits and sweets to show our appreciation for all their hard work. Thank you, teachers and staff - we are lucky to have such committed and talented professionals guiding our children’s learning!
In the spirt of February, students honored staff with Valentines hearts throughout the week. Today, Floris is filled with hearts and sentiments of gratefulness. Thank you, Floris students!
REMINDER: The Floris Science Fair is being held on Thursday, February 27th. Registration is closed but please join us on February 27th from 6:15 – 8:00 PM to see what our fabulous Floris scientists are exhibiting.
KISS ‘N RIDE: We have noticed an increasing number of cars driving too fast into our school parking lot and around the loop for Kiss and Ride both mornings and afternoons. This is extremely unsafe for both the students and for the staff members helping to unload and load the cars. Please be mindful of your speed as you enter and exit the school zone. We appreciate your cooperation.
President’s day is Monday, February 17, 2020. There is no school for students and staff. Enjoy the 3 day weekend and stay warm.
Sincerely,
Gail Porter, Principal and Amanda Dorr, Assistant Principal
