We love our school counselors

Have you thanked a school counselor lately?

Ms. Williams and Ms. Tran are two of the best!

(February 3rd-7th was National School Counseling Week.)

“Empty Bowls” is an international project to fight hunger, personalized by artists and art organizations on a community level.

Please join your child for lunch on Valentine’s Day as we celebrate our community through the sharing of food, conversation, and art.  Every child will enjoy a popcorn treat using their very own handcrafted bowl.  Bowls will be sent home with students at the end of the day or can go home with a parent after lunch. We also ask that our families help fill bowls that may be empty in our community by donating canned and nonperishable goods during this event.  Donated goods can be dropped off in the cafeteria or in the main office.

We look forward to seeing you on Valentine’s Day!

Lunch Schedule:

3rd grade:  10:30-11:00 am

1st grade:  10:55-11:25 am

K:  11:30-12:00 pm

Tech Talk:

Connecting to Staff Through the FHES Website

email form

Rather than listing staff email addresses, our Flint Hill website staff directory now connects you to a staff member through a form. The staff member can reply directly to you, the original sender, as you are required to submit an email address in order to receive a response.

The text on the form reads:

To send an email to this staff member, fill out and submit this form. Please enter an email address where you can be reached if the staffer needs to respond to you.

For the safety of our staff, submissions to this form are logged and are NOT CONFIDENTIAL. If you must discuss sensitive or personal information with a staff member, please allow them to first respond so that you may send the information in an email exchange.

Once the form is submitted, the sender will see:

You have successfully sent an email to this staff member.

Email addresses are no longer listed to prevent spam and other technology issues that can arise when outside companies and organizations have access to school email addresses. If you have already emailed your child's teacher through previous exchanges, this information does not apply to you. This is for parents/organizations who have not yet contacted a Flint Hill staff member. Our interest in sharing these updates with you is to address any confusion that may have occurred since the county made district-wide changes to school websites.

In addition...

As of last week, all grade level Quarter 3 Falcon Focus newsletters have been uploaded to the school website.

Kindness Challenge Calendar

Random Acts of Kindness Week

Random Acts of Kindness week (February 16th -23rd) is the perfect time to kick-off or celebrate kindness all week long by choosing from the engagement ideas listed on the calendar above. At school, we will be incorporating kindness and mindfulness lessons to further kindness in our community. Let us know how your child promoted kindness by tweeting (#FHESfamily) or sharing your ideas with administration and teachers. Our counselors, teachers, and administration hope to highlight some of these random acts of kindness next week!

Bridge to Kindergarten

Bridge to Kindergarten: Year 3!

We are excited to share with you our plans for a two-week kindergarten induction program held here at Flint Hill! This program will run from July 13th-24th, and from 9 am-12 pm. During this two week window, students become acclimated to Flint Hill, learn kindergarten expectations, and participate in a variety of games and other endeavors that support social emotional growth and the development of friendships. If you are interested in enrolling your son or daughter, please complete this Google Form. In addition, we hope you will share this information with families who may be new to the Flint Hill community!

Gentle Reminder: Your child needs to be registered to attend this program. Please see Mrs. Shirley Eason, our Student Information Assistant, to submit registration paperwork. Kindergarten orientation is on April 13th, from 1-3 pm.

Help Us Personalize Our Yearbook!

In an effort to continue to personalize the yearbook and highlight this year's theme, #GritGraceGoals, the Yearbook Committee is extending an opportunity for students to send in quotes, poems, and artwork. Please note that not every submission will be placed in the yearbook. Deadline to submit ideas and illustrations is March 6th. Submissions can be placed in the basket located in the front office.

Tweet of the Week

We continue to highlight learning experiences that support the acquisition of Portrait of a Graduate attributes and skills across our classrooms.

Ms. Williams, one of our school counselors, uses thinking routines, such as a "Chalk Talk," to help students consider the ways they can be cool beans (nice kids)!

For more information on Portrait of a Graduate, ask your child how they are a communicator, collaborator, critical and creative thinker, goal-directed and resilient individual, or ethical and global citizen. Or, click here!

Please click on our hashtag, #FHESfamily, for more awesome highlights from Flint Hill! There are just too many to highlight them all!
