We are so proud of our amazing staff at Poplar Tree and it has been a week of recognition and appreciation.
Poplar Tree is one of 2 FCPS schools to win the 2020 14 Carrot Gold Food Safety Excellence Award. PTES earned the recognition for prioritizing food safety practices and policies, minimizing food waste and having no critical violations in the past 24 months. Congratulations to Klaudia Ortiz and her team in the PTES cafeteria for this award!
Our amazing TSSpec, Sharron Wooden, was recognized this week by our Region 5 Leadership. Sharron was named the Region 5 Outstanding School-Based Professional Employee! Sharron was recognized for all she does for the staff and students at Poplar Tree, in the Chantilly Pyramid and throughout FCPS. Congratulations Sharron. She is now a finalist for the FCPS Outstanding School-Based Professional Employee. Sharron, you are amazing!
This week was Custodian Appreciation Week, and we are so grateful for all that our custodial staff does to make Poplar Tree so fabulous. Thank you to Mr. Hawkins, Ms. Kim, Mr. Lee, Mr. Santos Cruz and Ms. Suh. Please take a moment to thank our custodial staff when you see them.
It was great to hear from our counselors, Shari Hirsch and Beth Mertens, at the Princiapls' Coffee yesterday. They shared with us all how to help children be more resilient. We appreciate all they do to support our students and families throughout the year.

Poplar Tree Kindergarten Orientation for children living within the Poplar Tree Elementary School’s boundary is on Friday, May 1, 2020 from 9:00-10:00am. All parents/guardians and children who will be 5 years old by September 30, 2020 are invited to attend. Please call Poplar Tree at 703-633-7400 to RSVP.
