School News

Save the Dates: Authors and Artists Night-March 12, 6:30-7:30pm, Rising Kindergarten Orientation-April 29, 9:15-11am

Next week, we focus on the Positivity Project (P2) Character Strength of FORGIVENESS. Forgiveness is described by P2 as follows: You forgive those who have done wrong. You accept that people make mistakes.  For more information, see the Forgiveness, or any other character strength card at https://camelotes.fcps.edu/node/1945.

 Parent/Guardian-Principal Coffee. Our next coffee is Friday, February 21 at 8:30am, and it will last about an hour. We will share about school programs, but also provide time for questions and dialogue. School-aged students may be dropped off in the cafeteria at 8:30am.

Yearbook Sales. Yearbooks may be ordered via paper form, or online at https://ybpay.lifetouch.com/Order/SelectJob. The order deadline is April 17. Yearbooks cost $19.  Yearbooks will be distributed in June.

Dragons Share. Many thanks to the families who sign up!  If you would like to help deliver unopened food items, fruit, and milk from our school cafeteria to Food For Others at 2938 Prosperity Drive on Wednesdays/Fridays, please sign up! You may collect items from the refrigerator (anytime) on your assigned day. Food for Others is open from 9:30am-5pm, Monday through Friday. BINGO NIGHT is next Friday, February 7, 6pm: Preorder your meals now!  Get excited - Bingo Night is next Friday, February 7! If you haven’t ordered your pizza, print the flyer here and return it by Tuesday, February 4.

*Signup to volunteer on Bingo Night - we need volunteers to make this nighta success! Use the Sign-UpGenius or email vpwayscamelotpta@gmail.com if you can volunteer for a shortshift (set up, selling food or bingo cards, checking winning cards,distributing prizes).  

*Donateitems for prizes -clean out your toy chests, drawers and cabinets for new/never used/gently usedtoys and books  (no stuffed animals, please). We are collecting the itemsin the drop off box in the front hall through February 7 .Popular toys from years past include Happy Meal prizes, LEGOS/Minifigures, MyLittle Pony etc.

PTA Executive Board Member Nominations. Serving on the PTA executive board is a great way to get involved with the school. This April, we will elect a new PTA executive board. Open positions include President, VP Social, VP Ways and Means and Secretary. Job descriptions are here. ACCEPTANCE MONTH. February is Acceptance Month at Camelot!!  We are so excited for a full month focused on continuing to build an inclusive culture at Camelot. This month will be filled with weekly topics about acceptance, important classroom activities and discussions, and our Walk In My Shoes event on February 21st - where students engage in hands on activities related to living with various disabilities.  To make this happen we need many volunteers from all grades! We need volunteers to givetime for a half day (9-11:45 or 11:40-3:40) or whole day (9-3:40) like FieldDay in the spring. A fun training session with yummy food will take place onMonday, February 7th for one hour at 7 pm at Camelot ES to get ready for theevent. You may still volunteer if you are unable to attend the training event,but it is strongly encouraged.  Contact Laura Allen at lallen5@gmail.com or 703-598-4987 by February 14th to sign up.

Mark your calendars for Camelot ES International Night and join us as we celebrate our international, cultural and regional diversity. Start planning your participation in this fun event.

  • Startlooking now for favorite recipes from your country, culture or region and bringa dish or dessert for the tasting tables in the cafeteria.
  • Joinus to record a special family song or story that you can share on the night,and later with family and friends.
  • Bean ambassador! Plan an exhibit of photos or artifacts to share that showcasesyour cultural pride or heritage.
  • Volunteerfor a short shift at the event
