General Membership Meeting-Words Matter

TUESDAY February 4, 2020

Join us for an evening of thoughtful consideration – how do we recognize and combat the biases that are embedded in our everyday lives and culture? And how can we engage with our children in combating intolerance as well?

The Cooper PTO and the Anti-Defamation League have teamed up to present what promises to be an important event – we hope you’ll be able to make it.

WHEN: Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at 7:00 pm

WHERE: Cooper Middle School, Room 130

When: Wednesday, February 12, 2020, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm.

Program at 12pm.

Where: Cooper Middle School Library

Nominating Committee-Cooper PTO

We need volunteers for the Nominating Committee. This group of parents will identify potential candidates for PTO Executive Board officers and committee chairs for school year 2020-21.

If you’re interested, please email us at questions@cooperpto.org. Among our many volunteer opportunities, this one is pretty easy to accomplish. It can be done mostly via email! We do need members from each elementary school represented at Cooper:

  1. Spring Hill
  2. Colvin Run
  3. Forestville
  4. Great Falls
  5. Churchill Road

As soon as we have built our committee, a member of the Executive Board will be in touch with all of you to share specifics about the open positions (responsibilities, time commitments, etc.)

Cooper Spelling Bee Winners

Congratulations to 2020 Cooper Spelling Bee Champion Zelmay Jan and First Runner-Up Katie Fatianov!

We had a total of sixty-eight competitors; all ranked in the top two from each English class.  They were strong spellers who were supportive of each other and poised under pressure.  We're proud of them all!  Zelmay will participate in the Fairfax County Spelling Bee on March 15, 2020 and the County winner will compete in the National Spelling Bee in May.
