Greetings VRES Families!
I hope you are enjoying the cold winter weather. Perhaps, we will get more snow...we’ll see. I’m sure our boys and girls could use some fresh air and time to play outside with their friends. It’s nice to know that spring will arrive before we know it!
Tonight, I have the pleasure of watching our chorus students, led by our wonderful music teachers, Jeremiah Tyler and Jessica Berg, perform during the Westfield Pyramid Concert! I am excited for this special event. Our students never cease to amaze me with their talents.
Thank you for your feedback regarding plans for our 2020-2021 Back-to-School Celebration! As a result of the data gathered from staff and parents, we are going to make some slight adjustments to our Back-to-School event schedule. As we have done over the past few years, we will continue to host our annual Welcome Walk on the Thursday prior to the opening of school along with our School Supply Drop-Off that afternoon. One change we are making is to extend the School Supply Drop-Off to include a Back-to- School Information Session for parents. Over the past few years, our Back-to-School night participation numbers have decreased while our Welcome Walk and School Supply Drop off participation rates have remained consistent. Our slightly new structure will allow parents and students to participate in the Welcome Walk and Back-to-School Information Session/School Supply Drop Off followed by the PTA Welcome Back Picnic on the same day! I’m sharing this information with you early to allow you time to plan for this transition.

Candy Grams
The Virginia Run SCA will be selling candy grams that will be delivered to classrooms on February 14, 2020. You can treat your child, friend, teacher, or anyone at Virginia Run to a special Candy Gram. Each Candy Gram will include a lollipop. The flyer will go home today in the Wednesday folder. Candy Grams are $1.00 each. Please send your money and message to school by Wednesday, February 12th.
PTA Meeting
Come join us for our next PTA General Membership meeting to be held February 11th at 7 PM in the VRES Library. We hope to see you there!
Viking Family Night
This year Virginia Run will be hosting Viking Family Night on March 2, 2020 from 6:30-7:30 PM! Students in grades K-6 and their parents are invited to come out and participate in grade level games and activities, as well as learn more about how to support math and literacy at home. Flyers will go home today in the Wednesday folder. Please use the bottom portion of the flyer to RSVP by February 21, 2020.
Ellie's Hats
Virginia Run ES will be collecting hats for Ellie's Hats from February 3rd - February 14th. Bring a NEW hat to donate to a child battling cancer. Collection boxes will be set up in the lobby. For more information, please visit https://ellieshats.org/.
