Upcoming School Closings

January 27th and 28th are teacher workdays and staff development days. School will be CLOSED.

Monday, February 17th is a holiday.

Tuesday, March 3rd is a school planning day and school will be closed.


T-Shirt Design Contest

6th Grade Basketball T-shirt Design Contest

Be a part of Lees Corner history by designing our 2020 6th Grade basketball game T-shirt!  One winning design will be selected and the winner will receive 2 free T-shirts!

GUIDELINES

  • Must include the words "Lees Corner" and the year “2020”
  • Design for front of t-shirt only
  • Avoid “fine detail”
  • If submitting a hand drawing, please use pencil or black marker on white paper and submit no larger than 8.5-by-11-inch format.
  • Digital designs should be printed on 8.5-by-11-inch paper to be submitted. Please save the digital file.
  • Put your name and teacher on the back
  • Multiple designs may be submitted
  • Final T-shirt will be in two ink colors. T-shirt fabric will be gray, so consider that in your design.

SUBMIT all entries to the school office by January 31, 2020.


January Spirit Day--Sports Day!

Our next Spirit Day will be on Friday, January 31st, the Friday before the Super Bowl. Show your spirit for your favorite sports team or wear LCES spirit wear.


One School One Book Coming Soon

Beginning in early March, Lees Corner Elementary will embark on our third annual school-wide book club called One School, One Book. If you choose to participate, your family will receive a copy of Wishtree, a captivating story about acceptance, kindness, friendship, and hope. Please see the attached flier for ordering information. Orders are due by Friday, February 7th!


After School Activities

Registration will be closing soon for after school classes. Our PTA sponsors a variety of classes to get out those winter wiggles and flex creative muscles. Come join the fun!

The art department would like to get donations of baby wipes and unwanted Lego pieces. Please send any you are able to donate to school with your child. Thank you so much for your support!


Blizzard's Market Book Day

The last Wednesday of each month, Blizzard’s Market will turn into a bookstore!

Students will have the opportunity to purchase gently used books of all levels and genres.

Book prices will range from $0.25-$5.00.

Super Transition Saturday

Luther Jackson Middle School

This is a free event for parents/guardians and educators of students of all ages with IEPs (Individualized Education programs).  Breakout sessions will cover postsecondary education support, the importance of student self-determination beginning in the elementary years, employment support programs, future planning considerations, such as funding needed for services, and Career and Transition support services that are available to students as they progress through the secondary years toward graduation and beyond. A highlight of the day is a parent/guardian and student panel representing a range of challenges and successes. Members of the panel will convey personal experiences and answer parent/guardian and student questions from their perspectives of having been through the transition process. The snow date is March 14, 2020
