Dear Families,
I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for the parent participants of the Welcoming Atmosphere Walkthrough we held on December 13: Ruth Velez de Castro, Matt Nolan, Rebecca Kinkead, Chimere Omoigui, Mary Abigail Reinhardt, and Alexa Krezel. This process, facilitated by the Office of Family and School Partnerships, is a way for us to reflect upon our practices to ensure that all families feel informed, engaged and welcomed into CWES. I am eager to share the results at the PTA General Membership meeting next Wednesday. Hope to see you there!

Meet Marisa Straub, CWES School Psychologist
Did you know that there is a School Psychologist assigned to EVERY school in FCPS? FCPS School Psychologists are working hard to make a positive impact on the academic and social-emotional development of all FCPS students through the provision of mental health services that build resiliency, life competencies and good citizenship.

CWES CARES
This year, our SCA sponsored schoolwide service project is to adopt grandparents from local senior living facilities in our community.
Each class received two Valentine's baskets: one for a grandmother and one for a grandfather.
Classes are ask to fill the baskets with items such as:
cards, letters, small stuffed animals, puzzles, crossword puzzles, books, toiletries, socks/slippers, candy, etc.
Baskets will be collected on Monday, February 10th.

CWES Family Book Club
As a family, read one of the following books together: "The Water Princess" by Susan Verde, ill. by Peter Reynolds, or " A Long Walk to Water: Based on a True Story" by Linda Sue Park. Ask each other questions about what you read and be prepared to share your thinking of the book with other families at CWES Book Club Night. More details to come closer to the date.
