Stenwood Hive Happenings

Hive Happenings Newsletter

Dear Stenwood Families,

We are very excited to announce that Stenwood was just awarded the Energy Star Award.  Buildings that are awarded the EPA’s Energy Star use 35% less energy and generate 35% fewer greenhouse emissions than similar buildings across the nation.  This is due to a conscious effort by our staff and energy saving features used across FCPS.

Our SCA is currently collecting school supplies to benefit our adopted sister school, Graham Road Elementary, through this Friday, January 24th.   Thank you to those of you who have already sent in supplies.  This drive will enable Graham Road students to have much needed materials. The principal of Graham Road had said that our earlier donation of gloves/hats/mittens made the children so happy.  We plan to deliver the donated items to Graham Road as soon as our collection is complete.  Know that your generosity is truly meeting the needs of some great children at a fellow FCPS school.  Thank you.

Just a reminder that Monday and Tuesday of next week are teacher workdays. We hope you enjoy your 4-day weekend.  The Stenwood staff will busy here planning for a great second half of the school year!

Sincerely,
Erica Riley, Principal
Meredith Mitchell, Assistant Principal

Sweetheart Dance

Ticket Sales Open
PTA’s Stinger Sweethearts Dance

Join us Sat, Feb 8th from 2:30-4:00pm in the Gym for the Stingers Sweethearts Dance.

Parents, get your dancing shoes on because this one is for you too! The dance will be similar to a Father-Daughter/Mother-Son type dance. Each Stinger is asked to invite a special adult in their life to be their guest.

Ticket sales opened last week and must be purchased online in advance. Limited number of tickets are available, so get yours today!

Make it a full afternoon - Take your Stinger Sweetheart out for lunch or dinner at Blackfinn on the day of the Dance and 10% of your bill will go to the PTA. All are invited, even if you cannot attend the Dance!

If you have not returned the student intention form, we ask that you do so ASAP. Please take a few minutes to complete the form for each child currently enrolled at Stenwood and have your child return the form to school tomorrow.  Having information about your plans for next school year helps us to solidify our numbers; our student number play a major role in the number of teachers assigned to our school.  Your quick turn-around is appreciated.  If you are uncertain of your plans, please simply write a brief note explaining your uncertain situation.  Thank you!
