Hayfield Secondary School
Because of our strong military connection and our joy of doing good in the world, FCPS Region 3 schools are partnering with America's Adopt A Soldier® program to host a day of service on Monday, January 20, 2020!
Please plan to join us as we come together on the Martin Luther King Holiday at Hayfield Secondary School from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. to pack care packages for members of the military. Students who participate can earn service hours. If you can’t attend in person but would like to make a donation of supplies, please see the list of items needed.

Immersion Registration Information
The immersion online registration will open January 27, 2020. Online registration will be available on the Immersion Registration site. Parents will need their FCPS SIS account to register. If parents do not have a SIS account, they will need to contact Christina Spencer at cmspencer@fcps.edu for an activation code.
Parents of students not yet attending an FCPS school are required to register their child at their base school to obtain a SIS account. Translations are available in Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Spanish, Urdu, and Vietnamese.

Adversity and Trauma in Childhood: Building Resilient Communities
In the past couple of decades, there has been an explosion of new understanding about how and why adversity and trauma can reliably predict risks for mental, physical, behavioral health and productivity in the population.
This is great news! What’s predictable is preventable! We can understand how protection, prevention and resilience promotion can profoundly improve health, safety and productivity, as well as reduce public and private costs now and for generations to come.
The presentation includes in-depth information about:
- The neurobiological effects of adversity on development.
- The impacts of childhood adversity and trauma on population health.
- Resilience – what we can all do to improve health and well-being across the lifespan.
