FCPS Honors: Recognizing Excellence in Education

Excellence in teaching students, leading schools, and providing support is what Fairfax County Public Schools is all about. The Department of Human Resources recognizes outstanding performers as they seek to create and demonstrate the best instructional and support practices. The Foundation for FCPS is proud to sponsor this event, and invites members of our local business community to join us!

The annual "FCPS Honors" event will be held on June 10, 2020 at George Mason Center for the Arts. As in the past, over 550 employees will be recognized, culminating in 12 winners of the prestigious awards.

Become a sponsor of this event today - more information is available at this link.

Teacher Grants in Action

Great work is being done in FCPS, funded through the Foundation's Teacher Grant program.

Read our latest blog post about how a Foundation teacher grant allowed Glen Forest Elementary students to visit the ThinkABit lab in Falls Church. Students came away with a new understanding of STEM careers and what is possible!

Teacher grants are funded in part through proceeds from the Foundation's "Leaders & Learners" luncheon event, held on 12/4/19 at the Fairview Park Marriott. View photos from this event and find out more at this link

January is Mentoring Month!

The FCPS mentoring program, MentorWorks, trains and places caring-adult mentors into more than 200 schools, where they are paired with students who need guidance, support and encouragement. Mentoring by a caring adult guides students toward reaching their potential by discovering and developing their interests. Mentors connect students with resources, safe places, and structured activities, and show students horizons and possibilities that may not be apparent to them in their current environment.

Your financial gift to the mentoring program will assist program coordinators to build community with mentors and mentees through special events, activities and field trips. Enrichment activities and field trips build community and eliminate gaps in opportunity, access and achievement. Additional funding can also increase the number of students who can participate in this valuable program.

Donate to the Foundation's Programs:

The Foundation for FCPS works in partnership with the entire FCPS system and our community to create pathways to long-term success for students. Your end-of-year gift will help the Foundation fund these programs and more:

  • Gap needs for disadvantaged students, e.g. backpacks, supplies, gift cards
  • Work-based learning opportunities for students via teacher grants
  • Retention and recognition of stellar educators

With your help, we can keep our kids smiling well after the holidays.
