Dear Deer Park ES Community,
It is with great excitement that I share this news with you all. Our very own Mrs. Melissa Miller has earned the opportunity from Region V Leadership to become the temporary interim principal at Old Creek Elementary School in Fairfax. Mrs. Miller will be taking this principal role starting Monday, February 3rd, 2020. Although Mrs. Miller will be missed during this time away from Deer Park Elementary School, this opportunity will provide Mrs. Miller a chance to reach her full-time principal aspirations within Fairfax County Public Schools. Please celebrate and congratulate Mrs. Miller with me as she begins this new journey in her career!
During Mrs. Miller’s absence from Deer Park, we are fortunate to welcome Mrs. Heather Hitz from McNair Elementary School, where she is currently assistant principal and has been for the past 6 years. Mrs. Hitz has been with FCPS since 2006 as a classroom teacher and physical education teacher in various schools of different levels across the county. Mrs. Hitz comes to us with a vast amount of experience while working with students of various populations and academic and social needs. Mrs. Hitz has been an active participant in her school communities where she has gone above and beyond to support student achievement.
Mrs. Hitz is a learner first and foremost, but she is also kind, patient, respectful, and collaborative. We are grateful that she will be spending some time serving the Deer Park community, staff, and students during this transition for Ms. Miller to Old Creek Elementary School.
