School Psychologists
Did you know that there is a School Psychologist assigned to EVERY school in FCPS? The psychologist for Graham Road is Ms. Catie Hrabrick and she is with us every Tuesday and Friday.
FCPS School Psychologists are working hard to make a positive impact on the academic and social-emotional development of all FCPS students through the provision of mental health services that build resiliency, life competencies and good citizenship. Please follow them on Twitter @FCPSpsychs
Super Transition Saturday - Career and Transition Services Event
On Saturday, February 22, 2020, Career and Transition Services (CTS), the FCPS Parent Resource Center, and several Fairfax County adult service providers will host “Super Transition Saturday” from 9:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at Luther Jackson Middle School. This is a free event for parents/guardians and educators of students of all ages with IEPs. Breakout sessions will cover postsecondary education support, the importance of student self-determination beginning in the elementary years, employment support programs, future planning considerations, such as funding needed for services, and CTS support services that are available to students as they progress through the secondary years toward graduation and beyond. A highlight of the day is a parent/guardian and student panel representing a range of challenges and successes. Members of the panel will convey personal experiences and answer parent/guardian and student questions from their perspectives of having been through the transition process. The snow date is March 14, 2020.
Summer 2020 Enrichment Institutes and Camps
Enrichment institutes and camps focus on specific areas such as fine and performing arts, technology, study skills, science, and world languages. FCPS and non-FCPS students are welcome.
Tech Adventure Camp (TAC), Institute for the Arts (IFTA), Elementary Institute for the Arts (E-IFTA), and the new CTE Summer Academy classes will be held at Fairfax High School. Programs run July 6 to July 31, 2020. Bus transportation is provided from select high schools and middle schools outside of the Fairfax High School pyramid. Transportation to and from the selected high schools is the responsibility of the parent/guardian or student.
Grade level eligibility for each program refers to the current 2019-20 school year. Click on central institutes and camps for additional information.
Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology will host a technology institute for middle school students.
ACE enrichment classes stimulate students’ curiosity and provide creative learning experiences. ACE also offers a premier driver’s education Behind the Wheel program to prepare students to obtain their driver’s license. Click on ACE enrichment classes for additional information.
