Welcome Mr. Brendan Lyons!

We are excited to welcome Mr. Brendan Lyons as Fairfax Villa’s newest teacher. Mr. Lyons will be the special education teacher working with the 2nd grade team. After teaching in both Fairfax County and Loudon County schools, Mr. Lyons comes to us with experience in several different grade levels. A fun fact is that he earned a bronze medal in the triple jump at the 2014 USA Track and Field National Masters Indoor Championships. Mr. Lyons and his wife have a one year old son. Welcome to the Villa, Mr. Lyons! We are very happy to have you join the Villa family!

Deadline for AAP Level IV Referrals

This is a friendly reminder that the deadline for referring students in Grades 2-7 for AAP full-time Level IV consideration is due no later than January 9, 2020.  No late referrals will be accepted.  We advise parents not to wait for pending abilities test scores if they would like their student screened. While the Grade 2 screening pool casts a starting point for screening some students, test scores are only one factor in the eligibility decision.

If you would like more information about Level IV AAP services or the screening process for Level IV, parent presentations are available in both English and Spanish on the AAP public website (see “Parent Presentations”). These presentations have the same information that was shared at our local school information meetings. The website also includes the timeline for the 2019-2020 school year and all forms that you will need.

Referrals and all accompanying materials should be submitted to the school office (attention: Mrs. Wilkins, AART) no later than January 9, 2020 before 4:15 pm. Please contact Mrs. Wilkins with any questions at cmwilkins@fcps.edu.

The following message is sent on behalf of the Fairfax Villa ES School PTA. Its content reflects the views of the PTA.

Welcome Back!

Two big reminders from your PTA this week:

  1. After School Activities start next week, 1/13/20!
  2. GLOBAL FEST is coming up very soon! See more information below.

First Global Fest At Fairfax Villa!

This year we are SO THRILLED to host an International night event at our school! It will take place Friday, January 24 (snow date February 7) and we need YOU to make the event happen! The event will showcase a heritage talent show, a heritage fashion show, world jeopardy, potluck, and country display by Villa students, parents and friends. Maybe you want to have a table display about your cultural background, make a traditional food to share, perform a dance, or participate in a heritage fashion show (or all of these!). Here’s a form to tell us how you’d like to join the event!
