Dear Families,
On behalf of our staff, we want to wish everyone a safe and enjoyable Winter Break. We hope that you are able to spend time connecting with family and loved ones, especially your children. We also understand that it can be challenging for students to be away from their school routine for two weeks. Here is a list of activities that might help maintain routine during break:
- Visiting George Mason Public library with your child to check out books or attend a story time
- Play a board game together as a family
- Read books together as a family
- Visit the National Mall to view the decorations and free museums
- Drive around and do a holiday light Scavenger Hunt
- Read/Listen to books online via MyOn, which can be accessed on the Mason Crest website on the Student Links tab
- Enjoy an outdoor activity together, such as visiting a local park like Hidden Oaks Nature Center on Hummer Road.
- Access ST Math, the online math program students use at school, from the Student Links tab on the Mason Crest website.
We want to thank you for sharing your children with us every day. They are all amazing young people who come to school ready to learn, show kindness, and work hard towards meeting their goals. We can’t wait to see all that they will accomplish in the new year!
Sincerely,
Sherry, Larry and Andrew

Please keep sick children at home. It is difficult for students to concentrate or do school work when not feeling well. Children who have fevers (temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher), vomiting, or diarrhea are not able to stay in school. It is best for children to be home for 24 hours after these conditions resolve. If your child is out for the day, please call the Attendance Line at 571-226-2626.
Students are allowed to carry chapstick and regular lotion to school for chapped lips and dry skin. Also, cough drops are allowed as long as the student doesn’t share them with others.

We want to remind everyone of the importance of your child coming to school on time. When students arrive on time, it helps to set them up for success for the rest of the day. As a reminder, a student is considered tardy if they arrive after the 9:15 bell. After that time, parents must check-in your child in the front office. We encourage you to arrive as close to 8:55 as possible, when our doors first open, so that the students can settle into their morning routine.
