Dear Fairfax Family,

The  two-week winter break begins!!. I’m so very happy to share that FHS principal, Dr. Lenart returns on January 6, 2020. These past few weeks as acting principal have flown by with many new experiences and opportunities all of which have made me even more grateful to be a part of the Fairfax community. I look forward to returning to sub school 3 and continuing my work with students, families, and teachers.

I hope all of you find opportunities to spend time with family and friends, to rest, relax, and rejuvenate. Wishing you the very best in 2020!

NEWS FROM FAIRFAX ACADEMY

A Fairfax Academy student in the Television and Media Production class, Sujay Khona, and his video, “The Savings Genie”, was selected as the first place winner in the Burke & Herbert Bank regional contest for the American Bankers Association’s Lights Camera Save! Video Contest. Sujay attends Fairfax Academy, but he is an 11th grader at Chantilly High School.

Jane Petty, Vice President of Burke & Herbert Bank, personally came to Fairfax Academy yesterday and surprised Sujay (and his class) with the announcement of his regional success!

Sujay was rewarded with a $350 gift card from Burke & Herbert Bank, and his teacher will receive a $50 gift card as well.

His video will be advanced to the National contest (which will be based on social media voting) where he will be eligible for the top prizes of $1000, $2500, or $5000!
