WINTER BREAK: December 23-January 3
Please check your child’s Thursday folder for a list of activities, websites and games that support staying “fresh” with learning over the two-week break . Choose the activities that work best for your family. What’s most important is that your child enjoys quality family time.
Our school office will re-open Thursday, Jan 2 & Friday, January 3 from 9am-1pm. We look forward to seeing everyone back in school by 8:30am on Monday, January 6th. Happy New Year to all!
 THANK YOU PTO! Our staff loved the potluck lunch provided by parents on December 16th. Please join us for our PTO meeting on Wednesday, Jan 8th at 8:40am in the library. Drop off your child and then come for some hot chocolate. Come learn from our reading teachers about how to help your child read more at home and enjoy it.
Advanced Academic Parent Referral Deadline
This is a friendly reminder that the deadline for referring students in Grades 2-6 for AAP full-time Level IV consideration is due no later than January 9, 2020. Parents are welcome to submit early, but no late referrals will be accepted. We advise parents not to wait for pending abilities test scores if they would like their student screened. While the Grade 2 screening pool casts a starting point for screening some students, test scores are only one factor in the eligibility decision.
If you would like more information about Level IV AAP services or the screening process for Level IV, there are two parent presentations available on the AAP public website that have the same information that was shared at our local school information meetings.
Referrals can be submitted to the Advanced Academic Resource Teacher, Denise Meade-Warren, at any time up by 4:30pm on Thursday, January 9, 2020.
Donations for Indoor Recess Games Needed!
We know as the weather gets colder and as snow comes, we will be spending more time indoors. To give students a needed break and fun activities we are asking for donations of any new or gently used games we may provide to teachers for indoor recess! Uno, Jenga, Battleship, Connect Four, Candyland, checkers and Headbanz are some of our favorites! Decks of playing cards are also welcome. If you have any donations please drop them off in our main office! Thank you!
6th Grade Families:SAVE the DATE January 9
Twain Middle School will be hosting an orientation for current 6th graders and their families on Thursday, January 9th at 6:00pm. There will be information about course selection, electives, the AVID program and more! (The snow date is January 13.)
