A Message from Dr. Smith

The anticipation of upcoming holiday celebrations and a well-deserved Winter Break has been building all week (or the last two or three weeks!). I definitely felt all the excitement coming from our students, faculty and staff at various events during this Winter Spirit Week! I hope you all enjoy the time off with your family, friends and loved ones this Winter Break. We'll see you all in 2020 with hopeful resolutions and renewed energy. I wish you all a very happy holidays!

Online Campus Summer 2020
FCPS Online Campus summer courses will be available to eligible high and middle school students who meet prerequisites and technical requirements.  Students may take one online course for first time or repeat credit.  Middle school students may not take a mathematics course during the summer as their first-high school level mathematics course.  Courses are rigorous; therefore, students should consult their counselor prior to registering.

Registration for summer Online Campus courses opens January 6, 2020.

Edison Academy Open House
Saturday, January 11, 2020 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Edison Academy’s Open House for prospective students for the 2020-2021 school year is scheduled for Saturday, January 11, 2020 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.  FCPS students and parents/guardians are invited to come out for a visit to explore our Career and Technical Education programs, meet the teachers and staff, observe student demonstrations and projects, and tour the classrooms and labs.  See the flyer below for more information.

Lake Braddock Philanthropy Club
The newly established Lake Braddock Philanthropy Club completed its first winter drive during the final weeks of school in December to help Lake Braddock families who needed a little support over the winter break. Thanks to the generous supporters listed below, the Philanthropy Club packed and wrapped many large gift boxes containing food, toys, clothes, toiletries, and $850 worth of gift cards! The motto of the Philanthropy Club is, “By Us, For Us”, which means support provided by our wonderful Lake Braddock Community for the benefit of our fabulous Lake Braddock Community.

Academic Advising Information
When we return from winter break students will be selecting courses for the upcoming school year.  CLICK HERE (https://lakebraddockss.fcps.edu/announcements/academic-advising-information) to learn more about the Elective Fair, Curriculum Nights, Course Selection, and the Academic Advising Process.

Please note that all students will be entering courses through their SIS StudentVue account.  Parents will be able to see the courses students have selected using their ParentVue account.  Enrolling parents who have not yet set up a ParentVue account will be receiving a letter in the mail that includes their activation code and instructions for how to set up your account.  Additional information on your ParentVue account can be found HERE.

Middle School Student Services Newsletter
The Middle School Student Services Newsletter (https://lakebraddockss.fcps.edu/sites/default/files/media/inline-files/LBMS%20SS%20Newsletter%20-%20Winter%202019_2.pdf).is now posted and contains a lot of great information about our upcoming counselor lessons, the Level IV screening process,  parent workshops, and academic advising.  Please take a few minutes to review this information and do not hesitate to reach out to the Middle School Student Services office if you have any questions about our upcoming events.

 

Rising 9th Grade Parents of Students Who Will Attend Lee High School
You are invited to our school to attend two upcoming parent nights:

  • Advanced Academics Information Night
    January 8, 2020 from 6:30PM until 7:30PM in the Library
    The meeting will focus on our Advanced Academics programming and course offerings.  You will hear about the IB Diploma program, IB Middle Years program, AP courses, and more.
  • Rising 9th Grade Parent Nnight/Curriculum Night
    January 22, 2020 at 6:00pm in the Auditorium
    You learn about all of our courses, our elective options, meet teachers, and hear about graduation requirements.  Please bring your students if you would like so they, too, can begin to get to know our staff and school!
