Winter Break

December 23 - January 3

Hive Happenings Newsletter

Dear Stenwood Families,

It was great to see so many of you at the Silver Diner last week!  The last week and a half of school before winter break is really busy.  Later this week, the 5th and 6th graders will be competing in Battle of the Books!  Mrs. Cole, our amazing librarian plans two battles every year.  Battle of the Books encourages students to read a variety of genres and have discussions about books with their classmates.  The students also love creating their class themes, chants, and cheers.  Parents of 5th and 6th graders are welcome to attend, especially if your son or daughter are representing their class as a contestant.

Next week we will enjoy our annual winter concert.  Ms. Fucile, Ms. Campbell, and Mr. Frederick have devoted a tremendous amount of time and effort in order to prepare our students for this fabulous concert.  We know you have also supported your children at home with their practice; thank you for your support.  Let’s all come together to celebrate their efforts next Thursday!

Sincerely,
Erica Riley, Principal
Meredith Mitchell, Assistant Principal

Positivity Project ~ Self-Control

Next week we are focusing on Self-control. You have the ability to control your emotions and behaviors. You think before you act.

“By constant self-discipline and self-control you can develop greatness of character.”
                                                                ~Grenville Kleise

Questions you might enjoy talking about:
• Do you consider yourself to be a person who has self-control? What things do you do that indicate this?
• Why is self-regulation important?
• What happens when your emotions take over? How can you work on developing greater self-control?
